Hi, I was wondering if a 600w/400w HID/HPS light is safe to use in a cellar with regards to electrical safety: I looked at the wall mounted RCD and it says that the cellar circuit + lighting circuit is NOT protected by the RCD for some reason.
Therefore would this work instead: plug socket - circuit breaker(UK plug in type like you use on a lawn mower) - relay - timer - ballast - light? Are those plug-in circuit breakers sufficient for a 600w or 400w HID/HPS? Are they sometimes called portable RCD's?
I hate electrics! I just want to be as safe as possible. Loads of houses in the UK still don't have a wall mounted RCD so I presume people in the past have used high powered electrical items without problems but I'm just not sure. Any advice is really welcome! Thanks.
PS roughly how much do these 600w or 400w HID/HPS lights cost to run per month?
