600w cdm cmh in coolhood

I run 2x 600w in doninator reflectors vrnted with a 6inch fan.
Grow room tenp is 23c all the time.

If i swapped to cmd cdm they say there alot better and run cooler... Do i turn my fan off and remove the glass?

How will that effect the reflector or bulb?

Im guessing as tenps will be lower id be 20c. So removing the screen would help?

Do you mean CMH? Idk if CMD is something else. Well, CMH bulbs aren't meant for air cooled hoods, unless it's a special kind that doesn't blow the air directly across the bulb...also, there is the matter of the ballast, CMH need square wave ballast, though a few years ago people were using regular ballasts with them. I do like CMH better than HPS but I think you'd be better off sticking with what you have unless you really wanted to buy a new fixture for a small benefit. It isn't so much hugely better that it's worth replacing your current system for, is what I'm saying.

CMD cdm is a new cmh hps combo that can be used in any normal magnetic or digital ballast with 1.6umol and higher colour 90cri.

They can be used without the need of expensive ballasts.
Rrp is 99quid few using them now and i just wanted to know if it wud be safe to renove the glass for em

I have a 400watt CMH lamp that I am running in an old school magnetic ballast right now. I've used it intermittently for close to 8 years. Never had any issue running it in a vented hood. Just sayin.

Ya used a normal cmh without a discharge ballast? Or have these cdm hps cmd combos been about years and not updated the new on sales lol.

Thats mint.. Sayin 8 yrs u mean u goy a new every somany gtows right? But same style bulb?

Have u noticed anybdiference in them to hps?
My frind gets 8oz a pull off his 600whps bit his cdm hes racking 15oz a pop now lol

N runs cooler its almost led haha

Going on what I've read about them save your money and buy some top genetics instead, maybe if you were starting out but your already established so any gains with cmh are costing a small fortune.

Wel am due to buy 2x phillips sont grens again mine are year old. So there £55 each. The cdm is 99 if it suits vetter replacement.

Thetes a guide saying 300wcdm replaces a 600watt hps colour and umol. Then same oage says 600w cdm isnt a replacement for hps but a combination light lol.

Yep, Philips came out with the cmh cdm 250w and 400w direct hps replacement lamps years ago. They only work in old school magnetic ballasts intended for hps lamps. I haven't used that lamp consistently since I've had it, in fact I've used my HPS lamp a lot more. The thing is, any cdm cmh lamp that uses a magnetic ballast isn't going to have the same benefits as the newer 315w cmh lamps, which use a low frequency square wave (as opposed to the more typical sine wave used in hps ballasts). The cdm cmh lamp I have puts out less lumens than a 400w hps lamp would, but it's a better spectrum, and I'm supplementing with LED as well. I'm surprised your friend was only getting 8 oz from a 600w hps. My guess is that his increase in yield has more to do with improvements in his growing style than the light source. How many lumens does that lamp put out anyway?

1.6umol. Why? Why not just normal CMH it comes in at 1.9-2.0umol.
If you want to run CMH but keep the cool tube class then get the single jacketed CMH bulb.

Cause u need a 300 ballast also. This is just a universal bulb that goes in ya current setup.

If i was to spend 500wuid on lights it wudnt be in cmh or hps id be smashing out hlgs.
But am talkin i gota spend 100 quid on bulbs now.. Is it worth stretching to 200 its obly 100 more not a full led more.

Dude i know using them is smashing me hps hes in soil too so its makin me wonder coz he cant grow fo shit
Guides online some say its a replacement others say no.
Just wanted that extra bang for my buck without spending my truck.
