60x60x158cm Tent Extractor Fan & Filter Question

Hi All,

I have a 60x60x158cm grow tent that I started a week ago to the day, all good so far and seedlings growing nicely.

Admittedly I bought a beginner grow tent kit without looking too much into the specs/details and the more I look into extraction and carbon filter setups the more my head is about to explode! I'm nervous my fan may be too strong for my tent, although the negative air pressure seems fine, it's not bending poles at all but I'm concerned that when it comes to flowering time for the plants that the carbon filter wont do it's job as too much air is being pulled from the tent.

I've seen various articles saying to calculate required fan size you use the below formula:
multiply grow room volume(cubic feet or meters in my case), carbon filter factor(+25%), insulation factor(±20%), ducting(+10% for 10 feet) and the light factor(+10% for 1000W). You’ll get the fan size in CFM.

So, .60x.60x1.58= .5688m3 total room volume
+20% for my carbon filter = .5688 +.11376 = .68m3

CFM (in meters) required= fan should change the vol of the tent once per 3mins.
.68m3 per 3mins
or .226m3 per min

My inline extractor fan moves 145m3 per hour and so this seems like way too much to me? I'm new to this so wanted to see what normal is, I've been reading online all day but haven't found an answer.

Based on 145m3 per hour:
2.41m3 per min
= 7.23m3 per 3 mins
So that means it changes the air in my tent 10.6 times per 3 mins, is that not way too much? Again it doesn't bend the poles etc. at all and it seems to run fine with my carbon filter which is specced at 225 max 325m3 per hour so I think they're evenly matched enough.

Filter: Odor-Sok Anti-odor 100mm

I haven't seen any decent weaker fans available, and I've been using the one I have 15mins every hour to keep humidity and temps in check.

Do you think there will be an issue with odours come flowering and harvesting/drying? (Plant to dry in the tent with same ventilation setup)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and sorry for noob post.

Just put the fan on a speed controller like a variac if you think it's moving too much air. Turn it up if the tent gets too warm. A good temperature / humidity controller (environmental controller) can kick the fan or off as the temperature and humidity dictate.
