Here's my setup
I made a grow box, its 5x4x4 400w hps, 4in inline exhaust fan, sealed box set up in the attic also with exchaust fan. I was using a humidity dome under the hps light about 20in away for warmth to try to sprout the seedlings. Two of them have popped up and have been removed from the humidity dome and spray only with water. Btw using only MG organic soil with nitrogen blood mix. My question is when i remove them from the humidity dome, do i need to continue spraying them with water and move them to the side so that they are further away from the light? or is the light going to be too hot for them? These 2 plants have already started growing under the light, should i just go with it is or there something better i should be doing? One of the plants has tips slightly brown and the other sprouted and fell over so i proped it. It does however look healthy. Any help will do!! I can get pics if needed. :hump:

:blsmoke:and the one that fell over might have been streching for the light. if you can move them as close as possible would be best i think. maybe put a fan on the bulb to keep the temps down on the leaves..

Dont spray them with water with the lights on if you spray them you could burn the leaves. And Water the soil good the roots lots of water at youngen stage. I'm waiting til my sprouts get bigger before spraying them.

So I should definately put them closer to the light? How close? And only water the roots at this point? Thanks for your input!!

My Lights are seriously 1 to 2 Inches from the plant and i'm only watering the roots til it gets bigger then i will spray and water roots :D. and i have mine set at 18 hours of light to 6 hours of dark. Dark is when the roots grow the most. and its kinda less stressful on the plant so i have been told. :weed:

Dose anyone know if a 400w hps bulb 2 to 3 inches from a baby plant, with enough cooling will kill it ? Or is that fine?

AHh HPS.. umm if i dont think it would if you keep them cool enough. get a thomemter with a probe and put it right by the plants tell you the temp of the soil and the plants pretty much.

So last night I moved the lamp about 10" from the two baby plants, 10hrs later this morning I went to check on them, and the one that had fallen over looks worse. Maybe it's too hot? I watered it and moved the light back should that make it better?

What are your temps? 400w HPS is alot of light for a little one. Alot of people will grow them with a few cfls for a week and then hit them with the big light.

Your light is now too close. For a week old seedling 20" was probably too close. Foliar feeding under HID light (HPS or MH) is a bad idea. Feed from the roots. Sometimes a little stretch in seedlings is OK as you can just bury them a little deeper when you re-pot them. Good luck! :joint:
