800 watt grow how many amps?

Hi I am new to the electricity spectrum of operations, and was curious. I am planning on having 2 400 watt lights with an oscillating fan as well, so how many amps will i need my breaker to be for that area? The current breaker is 15, is that enough? and also, if it isn't is this the type of thing you can just replace with a higher amp breaker?

going to get hot, what kind of fans? any Air conditioning? you might be poping that circuit, taht one breaker is good for both your lights but adding more wouldn't be good.

Its also dependent on the ballast you are using, Magnetic Ballast use more amps then digital ones.

The answer is, more than likely it will not be over 10 amps or under 2 amps so there ya go use wiring that can support a lot more than 10 amps or only 10amps at your own risk.

You want to wire up multiple 10 to 30 amp circuits to operate a grow room with maximum safety and efficiency in mind. (ac, fans, de-humidifier, lights, pumps, etc...)

your not wrong, except that its not 6.66 amps constantly and that digital ballast use significantly less amps. Every ballast is different in efficiency.

96,000 divided by 120 = 800, and not 6.66. 800 is the watts used, not amps

Watts - 800 divided by volts - 120 = 6.6 - your load in amps, just as I said above.

Hey thanks for all the posts, I really appreciate the help. And thanks angelsbandit for the equations, thats basically exactly what i was looking for. And to clear up the air I am using Magnetic ballasts, and the room temps are beautiful, so no worries on that. I've wired the fan to another circuit just to be safe. thanks for all the help again everyone
