Hey dude. Mars marketing has zero governing. So they advertise whatever they want. Most reviews are written by them.

You won't get anything good out of those lights....even 4 of them. If you can't return them or screw someone over on eBay then find the actual wattage and expect to grow plants under a sqft measurements that equal 50 real watts per sq ft with those shit lights.

SOOOOO..... your 4 mars lights are good for 1 4x4 area.

Go to timber grow lights website to see what real grow lights look like

Good luck...... any replies from here will likely contain sarcasm

The blurple hate is strong.

Since you have them already, you can mod them a number of ways to improve performance.

First is to underdrive them. Sure less power but higher efficiency and less heat. Two of the turned down to half current will give you 120-140% amount of light as produced from a stock one. You can get better results because you are able to get more light to the canopy.

Second is to replace the light engine. CoBs, QBs, diy frankenstein creation. The case is pretty rugged (see Realstyles video) and you can re-use the drivers as they will work just as good as meanwells, just not as efficiently.

I wish I could do anything like that.. I brake anything I try to mod..
 
At least they didn't set you back too many $$. You could of paid out a hell of a lot more on other brand blurples and still ended up with the same sort of low quality.
Get yourself set up and get a grow under your belt and reinvest.

I hear you, maybe I should have said I've had 2 pretty good grows in the past. Was really more asking for input on led, and the outcome when using them like hps as far as comparison.
 
Well generally Mars will veg ok but not flower very good, probably partly due to the claims they make about the wattage and comparable to x hps. They are less efficient than HPS so will be hotter although may not seem to be because they have fans dissipating the heat faster into the grow room.
There are lot of poor quality LEDs on the market which will be much the same.
These guys with there COBs LEDs are claiming around 1.4gpw and running lights which can be almost twice as efficient as HPS so you really can use less watts to grow the same or more weed. I use the word "claiming" only because my COB light grow is way off the flowering stage, I do believe all the folks on here and have seen some evidence of the higher gpw and evidence of what they are capable of.
As said above check out Growmau5 on youtube, not only does he have a 7 part series on everything you would need to build one (sounds complicated but its not) He also shows his comparison of HPS side by side with COB LEDs. YouTube is full of folks making bullshit claims by people paid or gifted shit to market products, he is not one of those guys.
If I remember rightly he was pulling around 0.85gpw from his HPS set up and has pulled off 1.4+ gpw from the same wattage COB LED light. If you check out his early vids you should find the comparison. He also shows all his dry weights and shows close up bud shots to prove they are not airy but dense nugs.
Anyway, as far as LEDs go that what folks are doing these days. Problem is the old tech blurple light companies have flooded the market with misinformation and cheap shit products which casts doubt on the whole LED world. The fact is there's cheap LED and quality LEDs and they are worlds apart.
