So I'm toying with a bunch of ideas for my new grow. Ive done vertical, horizontal, aero, flood and drain in the past and really struggling with a decision on the new design selection.

I'm curious what you 8X8X8 tent guys pull down. And how you're doing it. Where I'm going to be the ease and security of a tent will be much easier than building out a room. With that said I have a goal of 5lbs in 3 months time (blue dream) bringing me 4 harvests a year. There will be room for a smaller tent to clone and keep the mom but vegging will be done in the flower room for now so 4 weeks veg is my max allotted time span.

I will likely be going aero becuase I like the results and the plants grow much faster. I like the gavida lights becuase they work well and cover a big area. I will be using C02 and currently have a pretty decent stash of 600's lying around. For simplicity, if I went horizontal I would prefer a few 1000's over 4 600's but I'm listening.

Take into consideration room for a small AC unit and dehumidifier and working space. I am all ears so let's hear your thoughts.

as many clones as you can make then seen as your going with a short veg

I would set up for the area to be covered with loads of shorter plants

aim for just quality top buds, better to get 4lbs of top buds and no pop corn then 5lbs with 1lb of that being popcorn and .5 to 1lb being mid size buds, better to just grow top buds as you`ll enjoy them better and if your selling it on then you just charge more for them as they are top

hell if you can set up a shelf round the sides you can get a 2nd row of clones in on a upper level if you have the height for that

Yeah plant count isn't really relevant so I planned to run plenty of them with a short veg. However I am slightly limited to the size of the smaller tent regarding cloning and how long I can let them veg there.

I'm not sure I follow what you mean about the shelfs.

Also the more I try to map out and design a complicated vertical aero setup the more I want to say F it and just stick with some horizontal aero trays run side by side.. Maybe two 3X6 trays with a gavida light under each tray turned all the way up would do the trick. I just don't have a lot of experience with flat gardens in big spaces.

I just mean put a run around waist height around the side so you can run a 2nd level of clones

Hmm if you feed them some GA3 or evoponic do something called "plant steroids" you can make them veg more for the 1st 2 to 4 weeks of flower then move over to a flowering booster

that or go with a strain that veg`s up more during flower like a sativa dom and maybe leave the space in the veg to grow up your indica doms a bit more or just go with double the number of indica clones

they`ll finish faster anyway

a lot of this could be decided by what strains you choose to run and how the react to your grow I guess

Thinking more on this over the weekend and I think what I'm going to do is run two gavida 1000W pro's on light movers running the 8' length of the tent.

Thoughts on plant count and lay out is as follows..

3 rows of 8 on each side of the tent. That will give me 2' of walking space in the center. Plenty of space for the AC/dehumidifier also. I will run 3 gallon aero pots. That will give me 1 sq ft. of growing space per plant. So the next question is will I be able to yield 2oz per plant in that foot print..

Let's assume my plants will finish at 2' or less (3' total height with pots) that's plenty of height to run these Gavidas properly.

Anyone see 2oz out of 1 sq ft. 2' tall plant being an issue? Genetics will be a high yielder like a blue dream, C99, Big Bud etc.

I know that comes out to 6lbs dry weight and around 1.4GPW but it seems fairly reasonable to me with these Gavidas. Honestly I'd be happy with 5 or 4.5 of some really really really high grade. Hell I might even hang some cobs off both ends of the Gavidas for the hell of it.
