90W full spectrum LED grow. Purple leaves!

Hi guys,

Sorry if Im posting on the wrong place, but I hardly use the forums.

Im growing a low ryder with a 90W LED in a 7 gallon bucket with Roots Organics. Its about a week from harvest. My problem is that the leaves that are closest to the LED are purple and very crumbly. I think its pretty obvious that its the light. Anyone have any ideas as to what to do? Im going to grow another one, but dont want it to turn out like this one did.

What kind of LED is it, and how from the plants are you keeping it?

Its a 90 watt UFO. Supposedly its full spectrum. Kept about 3 feet away from plant. I also had an aloe plant next to it and the lower leaves became purple as well. Ive been reading some forums and some people think that LEDs make it difficult for the plant to produce Mg. Makes some sense, but why did only the top leaves turn purple.

90 watt UFO is not a name brand. Where did you get it? Who made it?

3 feet is too far away for any light, unless it's seedlings or clones.

How about temps? Purple can be a byproduct of low temps, this happens more common with LEDs because of reduced temps.

Let us know temps and then maybe consider a mg deficiency, what water do you use?

Unfortunately I forgot the name of the company this came from. I remember it being a US based company,though. Bought it on Amazon. Worked great on first 4 lowryder grows. My wife told me I didnt have it 3 feet away more like 2 feet. I did have it a foot away, but thought I had it too close and thought maybe that was the cause of the purpling leaves. That was not so as even at 2 feet away new growth was coming in green, but turning purple.

Temps are at steady 70F humidity at steady 60 and my water is well water with ph of 6 and a ppm of about 50-70.

a week from harvest!? purple leaves are great, what are you upset about? I have seen people on here using purple booster nutrient near the end of flowering to enhance this trait of certain strain, I have a Grapefruit with a lot of purple at the moment, and I like it!!!

I installed LED's nine days ago, the veins are more purple than before. Temps are 62 at night and 85 in the day, about the same as the HID.

HGL Tech 336X. Growth is phenomenal, purple isn't hurting, but it showed up with the LED.
