A Grow Room is Born! two 4x8's in coco/hydrotron

Soooooo, my room is finally complete This is my very first grow and I am currently only running one of the tables with 15 plants to get started and see wht ths is all about. My plants look kinda tall and skinny but ths maybe is because of the strain or the different environments they have been through. Gimme some comments or questions, I would like to hear some different ideas. Pictures are of the intake fan (built into the crates holding up the tray) lights (two 600's) carbon filter, basic setup. Going to start a journal so I can try and learn from the best on the RIU posse.

Lookin good, I like the way you mentioned the air intake first. Most new growers dont know how inportant that is.

One thing I would do is lower the lights a bit.

I agree with cruzer101, your lights do seem high and your girls look like they are stretching.

Yes, yes!@!! i like the response!! i DO AGREE with the lights need to be lower but the plants are unfortunately on different weeks. Going to be installing the other 8x4 tray this weekend and will put the tall girls on that side. what do you think on the strain? for sure a sativa? just looks way too stretched out to be any kind of indy> anyways< who knew< lol................im tryin to grow and they aint no stoppin me now!!!!!!!!

Are you going to do a sog grow or whats your plan on heading into the grow if there is one.

Yes, the room is going to be bigger. its currently at one 8x4 table with another being set up now. Intake is pulling from under the house which sooooo far is staying half way cool. I would love to do an SOG grow but to do it properly i would need 2 more 8x4 setups, right? Or is there a way to turn this into a every 2 week harvest? well, thanks for the comments

looks sweet, man, are u using HPS or MH to veg. I only ask cause vegging under HPS can make plants "leggy" or "stretchy", but won't necessarily affect over all yeild. I'm going to veg under HPS, as I cant afford more lights.

I agree lower the lights, but the plants looks more of sativa than indica wich may explain their tall skinny look.

Could you tell me more about your intake?

I am using a t5 for all cloning and vegging, the veg area is in another room. My intake is a vortex 6" that is sucking cool air from beneath the house, it is encased in the crates that are being used to hold the table up. I lined the crates with styrofoam insulation to dampen some of the noise, its proved to be a very useful idea with space being limited in our room. What is a good guideline to start flowering plants? is it normal to wait til they get a certain height or veg them for 2 weeks and throw them in no matter what.

oh yeah, another question!! Is it o.k. to top them when they been in flower for a week? will it have any affect on yield? thanks again

Yea, I agree with skunk. You just missed the boat on that one. You wanna do your topping then wait a week or two for the new growth to settle in then flower.

When you top the plant you stress the plant. When you force it to flower you stress the plant also. You don't want to much stress or you will end up with Hermes.

I would just grow these out and see how big they get. Maybe tie them down and see if it gives you the desired effect. It will be good practice.

You can start flowering at any time. Its the vegging that determines the size of the buds though. The veg builds the stock and root system. 2 months veg and two months flower while you got the veg back up. you harvest every two months.

Works for me. No mothers, just take clones before you flower each time.
