AC/DE air cooled reflectors

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone used these at all. I am not sure if they're fairly new to the market but I seen them and was very interested in switching to them. I run SE air cooled hoods with 1000 watts but would like the features of the DE bulbs. To my knowledge a DE bulb has to run at certain temperature to perform at maximum efficiency and Sun system has found a way to achieve that while still removing heat from the room. If someone ran these please share your experience like how good they work or are they a rip off, thanks folks!

All DE bulbs work better when run at higher temperatures. So, active cooling, no matter the type, is only going to hurt you. For the price of many of the DE HPS fixtures + ballast + bulb, you can be into a cheap 600-800W LED fixture that will perform similarly and last 5-10 times as long.

They work just fine,no air over the bulb...can run them without the glass, but temp Will rise a few degrees. ...

Looks good!! I am really contemplating on getting these, just the price is steep. How far do you keep away from canopy both in veg and when full mature blooms?
I only use them in flower, and they start at 30" away from canopy, and I try to end around 20" away from canopy..or less

Have you dealt with light bleaching at when they're 20 inches away at all? Also what kind of fan do you use to cool your hood?

I think so,it's the bulbs that need the special ballast..
I use galaxy ballast, and the gavita de bulb (400v)will not work with this set up.
