Advertised yields

So, purely out of curiosity, the yields advertised by seed companies, are they anywhere near accurate? And, yes I realize that yields will be dependant on what you do during growth, so I guess what I'm really asking is, what kinds of yields are you guys getting. I have a Zkittles glue fem going right now.

Hi @Cleverjack and welcome to Roll It Up. You could use those numbers as an ideal -- for the first time you run the strain. The number is achievable if you have the perfect environment, meaning the perfect light, the perfect fertilizer, etc. AND you don't make mistakes or stress your plant along the way, like letting the grow media become too dry just once or twice, plant got too close to the light, just once or twice, etc.

Once you've had a successful grow to harvest you'd adjust that "advertised yield" AY number to more reflect your system, which may not be good enough yet to achieve the AY or maybe your system is so good you can exceed the AY, you added CO2 and even more light...

Thanks for the reply. I'm VERY new at this and just trying to get some idea of what to expect as I rarely trust what advertising says. Thanks again.

Nah bud, its just a running RIU joke about yields, anyone asks, the answer is always " bout a pound"

InDC killed it when he dropped the legit knowledge lol

I think their numbers are usually based on perfect scenarios, but can def be achieved once you get your room/tent/environment/nutes ect... all dialed in.

It's not that it's false advertising, but yeah it's not really a guide to go off of. Your yield will be more affected by your room environment and light wattage then it ever will by strain. Decades of uninspired breeding in the cannabis community has ensured that most strains if grown right will yield about the same honestly. Trying to guess your yield is a pointless game unless you've got the crop dried up and on the scale ready to weigh and you wanna play a nice carnival game of "Guess how much this weighs?"

The only thing somewhat accurate is if they list small, medium, or heavy yield. Then the rest is up to you.
