I could have sworn that all of the gas taxes that we currently pay were to help with roads and bridges. People have been paying these taxes since the '80s for this very thing. And in some states like California, are paying three times or more the gas tax that some states are requiring people to pay.

As with all taxes, they get sidetracked into pet projects by unscroupulous legislators. Where did all the lottery money in Ca. go?

Is there an echo in here? :roll:

Med ... the lottery money in California went into the state general fund. On the federal level, the social security trust fund went to the same place. There's still plenty of room in that place for funds intended for your beloved single payer health insurance plan though. :blsmoke:

Gawd, I hope so, you know, if we had single payer Medical, I could sell out and move the fuck out of this metro nightmare. The main reason I'm stuck here is for my wifes medical as my insurance only works in Nevada. It's HPN, or Health plan of Nevada. I can always get VA wherever I go But she is stuck here untill she turns 65. If Edwards or Kucinich get in, we'll get it, but I'm afraid if Obama or Hillary get in, more of the same, all talk and no walk.

Med, I really can't believe that you would want VA healthcare since I think you said that Bush has ruined that as well.

I figure if they have to raise the fuel tax to pay for fixing the infrastructure then so be it. It won't make a hell of a lot of difference in gas prices as it is.

This is true, we have gone from a state that supports freedom and liberty to a state that supports Corporate Communism. Ayn Rand would roll over in her grave if she know what was going on. There is no difference between the slave state of the Soviet Union and slavery of the Corporations we have today....

What made me walk away from the Libertarian party is that they went from a party of civil liberties to a corporate supremist party. They have walked away from their original ideals.
