I have learned that the best way to control the odor is to use the filter/fan as a true scrubber. "Scrubbing" is the act of taking the air and filtering, than taking the filtered air and filtering again and so forth. I bought a filter that was not quite the kick ass it claimed to be. I first tried the filter in this order : filter, fan, light, out. There would still be a slight smell. So when I completely segregated the light ventilation from the filter, I had no problems. I now have my big fan pulling fresh air in, pushing air through the light than to a tee and a damper which blows some of the heated/fresh air into the grow area, than the majority of the heated air exiting the tent, completely isolated from the smelly tent air . I than have the carbon filter placed near the plants with a 200 cfm fan on top of it pulling air out from the filter into the same area. The air would get scrubbed over and over. Now my tent has vents for escapement. As for best way, Pull or push? Controversial. But generally, it is better to push than pull because it presents less of a workload on the fan (less static pressure)
