as you can see, there are no white hairs left, the leaves are starting to yellow, so will it be ready in a week's time?

my main question is though, reading through pages and pages of drying and curing threads has made me more confused than i was at the start!
paper bag this, humidity that, jars, burping, hanging it out in your granpas old barn, seems like ive heard a thousand different things!!!

the strategy i am planning on taking is this, keep in mind i am a total noob to growing, gardening and everything!

  • cut it at the base of the stem, cut all the big leaves and stems off and hang upside down in my dark growing closet with my fan on but not blowing on the buds.
  • when the stems only just snap when bent, cut the nugs off the stems and put them into paper bags.
  • leave them for a week or so
  • put them into a jar and begin smoking the stuff, so opening the jar a couple of times a day usually to sneak out a nug.

so what do you think. is this gonna be a decent approach for a first timer? is the plant ready? can someone just clarify all this contradictory information and tell me im kind of on the right track?!

cheers!

Welcome to the world of variables , think about your situation and plants at hand and then live and learn man .
There is no exact science to this all as again variables dictate such and you ll find that in due time this will all make sense as well as the contradictions that arise here and elsewhere . Do not believe everything you read my friend as most of what has been posted is nonsense and one time recordings they often are .

I think your on track for the most part but do try and keep your RH at 50-60 % if possible during the drying stage as you want it to dry slow 4-7 days on average depending on variables again ..

Enjoy and dont analyze it all so much as you must tune into your own situation and tune out all the nonsense you have read here and elsewhere .. Common sense is your best friend and often people growing tend to loose touch with it , keep in touch and you ll be fine ..

ok cut down, hang dry with fan for 2-3 days maybe more. set in jars. every day take the jar open it up(burp) 1,3,5,4,8 close the jar in a dark place it shall be. day 2 open jar. 1, 2,5,4,6, close the jar and repeat the burping every day. o and for that much amount of time 2, you cant foget to count when burping.

Dry some place dark until the buds feel dry.

Jar some place dark until the outside of the buds feel moist again.

Repeat until the buds are only about 10-20% water weight.

A slower cure will make for more consistent buds. A slower cure can be accomplished by having a room with around 50-60% humidity.

curing will be a cyle similar to this:

Dry for a couple days
Jar for a couple hours
Dry for a couple of hours
Jar for a couple of hours
Dry for an hour
Jar for a couple of hours
Dry for 30 minutes
Jar for a couple hours
Dry for 10 minutes
Jar for a couple hours
Dry for 10 minutes
Jar for a couple hours
Dry for 10 minutes
Jar for a day
Dry for 10 minutes
Jar for a day
Dry for 10 minutes

After 1 week your buds should be dried. You can cure them for a couple more months to increase potency and flavor. Just burp the jar about once a week.

I've posted too many timex to repost....look for my replies in other threads because this shit is brought up way too fucking much.

There's no one best or wrong way...but for consistancy, try it my way.Hands down sticky stinky nugs everytime.

cut and hang whole plant for 5-7 days in a room that is kept 65-75°F and 60-65% RH.

After the initial 5-7 days I will inspect the buds and usually chop down whole plants to just branches and continue to hang dry (in same temp/RH) for another 3-5 days until stems snap but don't break, then I give a good dry trim, nug everything up (meaning I remove buds from branches) and place in to paper bags to sweat out the inner moisture left at center of buds and stems then take out till dry feeling again and then into jars with mini hygrometers in them, making sure the RH in the jars never gets above 65% or below 55% as per Simon's A Perfect Cure Everytime thread.

The reason we aim for a long slow dry is to not only allow for an even dry but also to help further break down chlorophyll (which can lead to a grassy/hay smell and horrible taste) but also to allow certain starches to convert to sugars and so on and so on.

Quick improper dry leads to a shitty cure, slow even dry time followed by a correct cure will give you the stickiest stinkiest buds you've ever had....everytime.

Going by the method you have listed....

3 days hang drying, 4 days in brown bag, then into jars. Open the jars daily for the first week, every other day for the 2nd week, once a week after that.

drying time depend on temperatures and humidity mainly, normally take from 3 to 10 days before they are ready to go in jar`s

to high temps make em dry to fast and get crispy, to low and you might end up with mold/PM

in the fist few day`s in the jar`s it might be necessary to have em open a lot or even take some Bud`s out agin to dry a day more as moist is getting pulled out of the Bud so to speak (the curing)

after a week I normal dont need to open em more then once day to check em and let some moist out

if they get to dry a peal of potato or oranges in the jar for a few hours can easily fix that

Make sure you cut right before the lights come on so the plant has had the entire night to use up all the starches and sugars stored up from the day before. If you cut during the day, or right after the light turns off, it will have a high amount of starch accumulated meant for getting through the night period. Starch and sugar is what you want to reduce in a good cure.

For that, the harvest window is probably throughout this week. It looks harvestable now.

Boveda humidi paks are great for curing in jars once you have your flowers dry. You can get different humidity %'s but you want the 62%. Really makes things simple in my opinion. Good luck, Good grow, Be safe, :peace: out.

i would trim completely before drying. ive tried pluckin off the fan leaves and lettin the rest dry and when the rest of the other leaves dry up it can be a pain in the ass to trim
