Almost ready to harvest, is it *that* bad?

So the top cola of my most mature auto seems almost ready as seen in the following pic . Is it that bad if I start curing just that cola now? It's already past the date specified by the seller by about 1.5 weeks.

It feels like I've been growing this forever and I still would have about another 20+ colas on this plant and another 5 plants, so I thought it wouldn't be too bad? Shouldn't it already be like at 80 or 90% of its peak potency? I am not a believer in amber trichomes by the way: they should be all milky and barely if not at all amber.

I plucked a single one of those tiny leaves for a tiny puff of smoke and the high seemed too strong for a placebo effect, though I have no proof for it.

Dayum I don't have magnifier glass but this one is heading towards week 11 since germination for a Golden Harvest Auto Super Tangie which is supposed to be 9 weeks from germination.

Plants are done when they are done, not when a breeder types it on a package. Everyone’s environment and lights differ

Here’s what a ripe branch looks like

shoot for that

Thanks for the advice, I thought I had taken a good look at a few of those "Ready to harvest" galleries with a majority of brown pistils but still a few white ones, I guess I just saw what I wanted to see...

Edit: Oh, and feed your plant!
Are you saying that because of the purple leaves? Apparently too much nitrogen urea from the previous fertilizer is limiting phosphorus absorption so I need to put some enzymes and change fertilizer... but I really thought I'd be close enough with this one that I am just to flush with clean water at this point.

Get yourself a cheap Jewelers loop. It's rare a plants done when there hairs turn, the trichs on the bud is what you want to check.

You have at least a month and you need to keep feeding as it is barely budding and has much swelling and potency to come

They flat out lie about finish times to get people to buy their seeds because everyone is in a hurry. And don't go by that chart floating around that says when 50-70% of the pistils turn it's peak harvest time. That chart is pure garbage. When only 50-70% of the pistils have darkened the flowers have not even started to swell and have weeks left. It's too bad so many people have gone by this chart and ended up with immature weed.

This is the one I'm talking about. Go by this and you'll harvest early.

I completely agree with your sentiments on this chart. I used this to go off of when I harvested my first two grows and cut way too early. I have been ghost perusing this forum for 2 years now and appreciate people like you and bk78 with your advice to new growers.

Hah that is the chart indeed, thanks a lot!

I am going to show a picture of a similar plant that is unfed. You will see it's a bit pale and very slightly purple tips, so doing much better unfed- this makes me think feeding the OP plant more of the same will do abs no good at all.

When it was vegging, some vegging fertilizer also caused burnt tips (which should happen with excess blooming fertilizer only, am I wrong?) Looking at these 2 pieces of information am just thinking I need to ditch that brand and consult with proper local growers about a better suite of nuts rather than trust the shop.

Please check the OP Colas seen today from the side with the most white pistils. You will see they are already 70-80% brown! - it's like more than half of the white pistils you guys saw have turned in 3-4 days! At this rate, all the goddamn white pistils will turn brown in less than 12 days... The rate would need to slow down for it to not be the case.

In that case I would harvest that OP plant by then (when all pistils are brown).

I will focus on the learnings from this second experience. I suppose it can't be that bad - my first time was a few years ago with just a small bunch of white office bulbs and no fertilizer, and still got high AF with a much more pleasant smell and potency than random dealer stuff (there's nothing else locally am afraid).

Will also focus on having proper information since day 1 so that next time am not asking tons of stuff that needs information that I only have partially.

In spite of the massive issues this plant is having fortunately it still smells incomparably better than any dealer stuff and plucking a bit less than a 6th of a gram stillgot me high AF so it will have to do :p

Hairs turn brown from almost everything. Anything that touches a hair besides a leaf with make it turn brown. Throw away all concept of what hair colors mean and focus on the clarity of the calyx crystals.

ohhh craaap.... I also saw on another thread that a plant that is badly starved can just be finishing off browning them pistils "the hard way" way earlier simply because there's nothing else left to do with so little nuts and so starved.

I guess I'll go weep in the corner for a little bit and next time get all the information properly sorted out from the get go instead of waiting until it goes wrong.
