Durarara!! / Durarara!! 2 are real good, well worth the watch, plenty of WTF of the mystery variety. Well-told.

I tend watch things on whim, and I’m on a kind of isekai streak - MC transferred/reincarnated in another world, IOW. Recently watched “Re:ZERO” and really enjoyed it, the whole thing is a whodunnit, and very engaging…if you can go with some horror with your mystery, Higurashi (‘When They Cry’). Gruesome in places, and horrible, but an incredible story, incredible characters, brilliantly told (imo). There are 3 seasons: (2006), then Kai, then Gau, with a final season (Sotsu) beginning next month; Hulu has Gau (“New!”), the others are on Crunchyroll/VRV.

I’ll see what else I can think of….
 
Shin Sekai Yori has been recommended to me as a dark mystery…can’t tell you much about it, but it’s on my list. I have “Another” on my list, too.

Update: this is most certainly NOT mysterious or dark at all, but it’s compulsive fun to watch: That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime. Very different from what you asked for, I know, but I hate to leave good stuff unmentioned…I dunno how they pull it off, but they do. 36 episodes so far, another twelve airing this summer. If you get into Higurashi, you may want a relief valve, this might be one.
