Another first CFL grow

Well after reading through all of the awesome cfl grow journals I decided to start my own stealth cfl grow. My girl is 17 days old. I had a mishap screwing with gnats where I busted one of the MG time release capsules on the first group of top leaves. this stunted her, but she has rebounded well. It looks like it may have turned out to be like topping her and give me 2 colas. I have 5 26 watt 6500k 1600 lumen bulbs, and a 42 watt 2700k 2400 lumen bulb on her now. I think my pot may a little big for my cabinet, but I was doing it on the cheap and figured it would be better to have to much than not enough. I will post more pics once I get a little more growth.

well today is day 19. i watered on sunday, and i think i need to water again tonight. shes in a big pot so i think that helps her stay moist, but i cant keep it below 90f in there. I am using a 1/8 strength 11-7-7 fertilizer until I see results, then i'll up it. I think she (I hope shes a she!!) has growed about an inch since my last update. how do yall think she looks? I think she recovered quite from my screw up, bushy for so small. ive only grown outside and none of mine ever done that.

no comments or advice? com'on give a newb a break!!

Whats up people! my little bush is coming along real good, i am happy. I started to do the LST method, and it seems to be coming along pretty good. then I read an article that told about how to FIM, where you cut the top of the leaves from the top, but not the whole top. from what I gathered about that is you only cut the top third or less of the top shoot (or whatever exactly it is called). You can see where I did this about an inch below my thumb in picture 1, and again in between my fingers in picture 2 (if the pictures are numbered the way I think they are). I think I am going to let her get about 9 - 12 inches long, depending on how bushy she gets. I'd say she is about 4-5 inches now. its nice to see people taking the time to stop by and read through the post. I will post a new update in a few days, peace!

why do u have her pinned down to the ground ?

at the first post i noticed some leaves have yellow spots , u should check that out .

Hey nice grow man, she looks good so far. Don't worry about people not posting in you thread, it takes a little while....so many threads so little time.

I think hitting temps of 90 may stunt your growth, try taking a light or two out now while she's small, then when she gets bigger add the other lights. I only used 3 - 23 watt bulbs on my grow during veg then added a 4th during flowering and she turned out reeeeeal fine(check out my grow journal in my sig).

Pinning her down is the LST (Low Stress Training) method of growing her lower to the ground and makes her more bushy, and sometimes more colas. This is what I learned on this site.



thanks for the advice and encouragement spacemonkey. i have my grow box in a attic space with no HVAC system, so when it gets cooler outside it gets cooler in my box. but I think i can raise the lights up and cool her down too to prevent from stunting her. I checked out your grow and she is awesome! it was grows like your that inspired my own, so thanks again.

i checked on her this morning, and she seems to be growing so fast. It seems where I FIM'ed her, that growth has come out a whole inch since I cut her on Saturday. I loosened the pin for the LST because it seemed a lot of growth was pressed into the ground, so I thought maybe i bend her to far at once. I also pushed my lighting a little further away, so it styed right at 80 in there all night. I will post some pic's this weekend. i think by then i will have to put her into flower!!!Sunday will be day 31, so we will see!

What strain is it mang? (lol Im no ese)
Is it bagseed or ordered? I like seeing bag seed grows because its very interesting to see what kinda phenotypes are making it around the country as "mids" or "shwagg".

Hey Skunkybud-its just some seeds i had from some pretty good herb. I would like to know what strain, i am sure they all come from a strain somewhere along the way. Shes looking good. i think she should show sex pretty soon. Sunday is day 31 vegg, i want to start 18/6 or 12/12 soon but i'd like to know sex first. she has gotten bushy since my last pic update, i will post more in a couple of days, got to keep y'all on the edge of ya seats waiting!!! Im going nuts waiting on this girl to show sex. I have only had one female plant to go by, an outdoor grow from this summer, but I swear she looks like she will be a she! She hasnt showed her pistils yet, but no balls either! pic's to follow in a day or 2. she has bushed up really well, and if she is a girl she will have a bunch of crazy tops cause of my LST and 'ing, shes got all kind of branching going on. Nice looking grow! a little taller than mine, but I think my little stubby bush has about that much green growing off of it, just in a shorter bushier package. Do you have a thread started yet? if not start one and post the link, i will follow it

going very nice, i am too growing with cfls, last grow got found and grinded up, new one coming soon. she looks pretty healthy but if i were you i would try to create some sort of air flow, like an oscillating fan for a few hours a day, you know like a breeze blows every so often outdoors? she(i hope) is looking pretty healthy though, i'll watch this. keep up the good work!

Hey people, whats up! it is day 30 of veggin and the ladie hasnt shown sex for sure yet. I could only post a few pic's cause the site was messing up on me, but i will post more a soon. I went ahead and added what I am hoping will be the last veg nutes today at 1/4 strength. I hope she shows sex next week, she looks close to it, then i will go 12/12 for a few a week or two. I think then I might take her back to 18/6 for a week or two, depends how shes doing. I have read a few people do it. I ALMOST think she is showing pistils now, they are just too small to be sure, or i am seeing what I want to see cause this is another bitch that is driving me crazy. Plus she has a ton of bud sites, so she cant be a he!!! And the dog is Dakota, shes is my tripping ass boxer. she likes the smell of pot to, but I try not to share with her, much. enjoy the pic's

NO OFFENCE, u need to do sumthin about them, they should deffiantly b bigger, and not all shrivelled up like that. ur tepms r 80....wats ur soil ur using???? im not sure its liking those lights or sumthin, it aint liking sumthin dood i kno that!! im tryin to think of wat it is.

Awe, sad but your right. i screwed up when she was just sprouted and accidentally busted one of the time release capsules from the Miracle Grow time release soil (i am using this, but it has been used for house plants, low budget), and it stunted it. While this slowed the growth, i think it actually will promote larger yields in the end. I think it basically topped the plant out, which normally has a 1-2 week turn around to recover from after topping any other plant. I say this because now it looks like there is 3 or 4 tops. I also LST'ed it after about a week of unstunted growth, so about 10-14 days of growth. I think she looks real good now with a lot of bud sites. she is just so small and bushy she is hard to see inside of. My temps were giving me some problems at first 2, but I think I have most of them worked out.

I used an 11-7-7 diluted down to about 1/8 strength or less until I could get to the store to pick up stuff. i only have cash to spend on this project, so I cant order online without buying gift cards or something. But I have now got some Miracle Grow singles 24-8-16 which I applied yesterday morning at about 1/8 to 1/4 strength. i already stunted her so bad early on I dont want to hurt her again, so i am going weak you know. I checked her this morning and she looked like the nutes yesterday did her REAL GOOD!! I am off work tomorrow and will post some good pic's so you can look again, if the site doesnt give me problems at least.

she looks ok man, definitely stunted, for 30 days that is pretty small, i wouldn't give up on her, but i would start another plant, with all the stress, she might end up male, but if not, you will at least get something, but i would hate to see so much effort on one plant that could have bee better, so if you get another plant going, one tat one is ready to flower, the stunted one may be bac in action, but that is alot of work you got ahead, especially for only one plant, play it safe and get another bean going
