Hey everyone, hope everyone is well.
I wanna grow a couple of autoflowers indoors.
I have a 400w mh/hps with dimmable ballast light.
But being in northern california, the heat is too just much too control.

I am thinking of using a led light for a grow.
I seen these lights on ebay.
Are any of these ok for just a couple of autos?

I am just trying to keep things simple.
Just a cheap 2 plant autoflower grow..

I grow just for a hobby, it gives something to do.
So a huge yield is not a factor too me.

800W LED Grow Light COB Full Spectrum Plant Indoor Flower Bloom Lamp

PopularGrow 400W COB LED Grow Light Full Spectrum 90° Reflector for Indoor Plant

MEIZHI Reflector 600W LED Grow Light Panel Full Spectrum Hydroponics Veg Bloom

BLOOMSPECT 600W LED Grow Light Spectrum Hydroponic with Veg Bloom Switches Lens

Any one of those will work fine. They won't give the same yield as the 400w HID you already have, but they will do the trick for a couple small plants.

A few years ago I bought a car for 14k. I rotate the tires and do regular oil changes. I have never had a problem with it so far. My neighbor bought a car for $400. It spends more time on jack stands then it does with all four wheels on the ground. You get what you pay for in the end.

Yes I understand the lights are not the best.
But again its just a hobby grow.
If I was more into it, I can see paying the best light.
But for now I am just seeking a simple cheap light.

Here here hobby grows are for fun I know once I've played with £200 's of mediocre
Off the shelf leds, I will up grade, I'm planning that.
But for now buy the best u can afford and a lot of research if I was buying now I would build my own with led strips .

Thank you for the reply.
What do you think about the cob led light?
The 800w says 378actual watts.

I've never used the COBs from Amazon, just the regular blurples like the Meizhi so I can't really say. In fact, I haven't even seen many grows using those cheap COBs anywhere to be honest. 378 true watts is definitely sufficient for two small autos though.

Thank you for the replies everyone.
I quick update.
I just broke down and bought a timber cob light.
Its the 2VL its 200w.
I just said the hell with it, so I bought a light I know will last.

Excellent choice! You will be happy you did. The blurple LEDs aren't as bad as a lot of people say they are, but going with a real COB from a reputable source will pay dividends in the long run.

So while this is sounds advice if you have 14k, or the ability to repay it without too much financial stress, this is clearly a statement made from a position of having stable finances, and not everyone does. There was definitely a point in my life where I could only afford a $500 car. Sure it broke down a lot, but I just learned to fix it myself.

And likewise, when I started growing and I didn't have a lot of scratch, I started with cheap shitty lights, and just made it work. Just wanted to point out that people don't need to live beyond their means to grow weed. Can always upgrade lights later. I did, and have no regrets.

I'm with @Gentlemencorpse on this. The cheap LED burples were an obvious starting point for 1st time growers. Yeah, they overstate their power output by >2x, and compared to "quality" lights, they're inefficient and they're spectrum output is questionable, at best, but It's what I started with for my first grow with 2 of the 300w (actual output ~140w each) versions over a 2' x 4' SCROG. After 4 months I harvested 8 oz of reasonably good bud. Certainly good enough for a trial run. After that experience, and reading the recommendations on forums, I put together a Bridgelux DIY and have since relegated the burples to growing clones.

You'll get all kinds of nasty feedback the burple lights, and it's true: They are "crap" and you'd be better off in the long term with either a DIY (see the thread in my footer if interested) or like you've done, purchase a quality light, but for a 1st time grower they're an inexpensive solution that can give reasonable results.
