Anyone growing on the east coast preparing for Florence?

It's looking like it's going to pound the Carolinas, parts of Virginia, parts of Georgia. The last update I saw, they had it making land fall at 140MPH.
I'll be keeping a close eye on it. I don't have a generator.

Can you run hid's or cob led's on a regular "non-inverter" generator?

Yeah. It needs to be able to handle the initial ballast strike amperage though. I think it maxes out at around 8.2-8.8 amps on a 1000 watt but that's just me remembering looking at my ballast, I could be mistaken on the amperage.

We are dead in the cross hairs of it AND we live right on the coast of N.C. Fortunately I'm not growing anything right now. We're under an evacuation order so we're packed up and heading to the mountains in the morning. I've been through two hurricanes here in four years and rode them out and nothing happened but I've got a bad feeling about this one; first time we've ever ran from a hurricane.

Grew up in FL and rode out plenty of hurricanes. I now live in the N GA mountains and have 5 girls out in the garden that are flowering. All I can do is truss them up with some supports and see what happens. Not really predicted to get really bad here, but for the folks out by the coast stay safe.

It's a CAT 5 hurricane im pretty sure, 200mph+winds, biggest hurricane too date, last thing to worry about is plants, houses are gunna be ripped from there foundations. IF YOUR IN THE WORST AREA OF STORM, EVACUATE ATLEAST 250 MILES AWAY

a simple 12v dc light bulb/flashlight/torch over your plants
should prevent them falling to flower
or any form of stress with any outage

A lot of folks are just going to be dealing with heavy rain and some wind. I wasn't referring to people living close to the point of impact. At that point, plants are a write-off anyway outdoors. Wilmington is advising their residents to leave if they can, but if they're above the surge, a lot of people are riding it out.
Also, it's not even close to 200MPH winds. It's at 140 right now. It's expected to strengthen to 155, then weaken before it hits the coast.. Some models don't even have it making landfall. I've been watching every update, and in between. Also,you don't need to evacuate 250 miles away. Where the hell do you get your information from? You need to get to a sturdy structure that's out of the flood zone. Tha's all. This is expecting to be more of a rain/flood event than a wind damage event.

Thanks. I was 2 days into flowering, had my lights on at night. I switched it up today to lights on during the day. If we lose power, I'll just move them from the tent to a room getting light from outside. SHould stress them a little, but not too much I don't think.
