I plan to buy a lot of pc fans to vent my area but I need it to be really quiet. Also I dont want these to be to expensive. Any suggestions please.

electricity is not my bag. you'd have to add up the amperage and get a transformer that could handle it. ask PhilipChristian. he has a thread, "here to help, grow room plans" , or somethin' like that. he's good with that stuff.

pc fans are 12 volt DC NOT 120 volts AC. How much light are you trying to cool off? In my experience pc fans are only adequate for cooling PC's

I'm not being funny man, but this has been asked plenty of times and at least once in the past week. I'm not barking down at you, just saying try doing a little research before starting a thread. google 'endpcnoise' and look at their range of fans, I think their lowest one is something like 9dB (basically silent unless you are really close) and that's another thing, that site has db readings for most of the fans on there. They also have a range of sound reducing fixtures like the rubber fixtures unholywar23 talked about. Same goes for wiring, so many threads on here and tutorials, just search it. I know you will need to find yourself a converter or just use a 12v AC/DC (not sure, think it might be DC) adapter and make it red to red and black to black. Like i said find a tutoria on here though.

I use 120 mm noctua fans. Ive spent quite a lot of money and time trying to optimize my cab design and I have come to a conclusion that pc fans arent enough to run a cab. However, I strongly recommend the noctua fans. They are very quiet and move a sizeable amount of air.

The price of the fan is NOT gonna be cheap man! I'm just warning you. I was looking for six 60mm fans a while back, the cheapest price (on cheap, loud ass fans) was $15 ea. - that sucks! I found four 120mm pc fans at my local flea market for $3 dollars, I gave the dude a five for his generosity hahah.

As far as powering them, get a 12v power supply with a high amp rating. You might be able to wire all the fans into this, you might need two.. or this idea might be good for what you're looking for because one power supply powering multiple fans slows them down, also making them quieter (sp?)

Good luck

splice a low volt phone charger with the fan so it spins slower and doesn't sound like a micro vacuum, or you can go all out and buy a dimmer switch to add into the splice and slower dimmer the speed to your sound liking.
