Anyone heard/tried the burping lids?

There was a thread about 2 days ago with someone needing to leave right after jarring. This would be perfect for situations like that if it works.
 
plenty of folks including me have burped them manually for over a decade without a single instance of mold or mildew, you dont need those lol.


Id much sooner spend that money on one of these^ if the curing phase is your concern.
If your gonna be gone for 6 weeks during the burping process it could be a huge help.

Most of the time when I see a new product being wondered about here it's mostly malarkey. But this one happens to have situational applications.
 
I'm burping for the first time. I'm about 3 weeks in jars. Some of the jars are smelling delicious. while other aren't. Should I still be burping everyday? Should I be burping longer periods of time? I'm sure I will be a master, but i'm just learning at this point how to cure to perfection.

i usually burp daily for the first 7-10 days after jarring and by then the humidity levels are within a suitable range. Having a hygrometer helps, it really all depends on how much moisture was in the nugs at the point of jarring them up. Herb on the dry side will need significantly less burping than the sticky moist stuff.
 
I've looked a those. I make kimchi, sauerkraut and pickles. I've never had the need to use them. In fact I just recently made some kimchi. I make kimchi all the time with just a regular canning lid.

But those are not going to work if you're curing cannabis. It's just an airlock built into the lid that allows gasses from the fermentation process to escape so the jars don't explode. They're not going to do anything regarding humidity or the curing process.
 
Or you can do this which is genius and way cheaper...just a pump on a timer

Fair enough. Just throwing it out there as a possible solution to not allow his weed to over dry from leaving it out nor mold from not burping.

However you are all correct. It's not going to allow new air in.

At that point woundn’t it just be better to have a permanent room set at 60% humidity and 62°F sort of like a wine cellar for weed, a weed cellar :weed:

Good question. I have a room and I'm leaving jars opened for long time. Wondering if I'm fukking up my cure by not closing jars after 5 minutes.

if your rh% in the house is very low like mine is, you dont wanna leave the jars open for more than a few minutes. If my herb is on the stickier side ill burp twice a day and for the stickiest of the icky i dump out the jar onto my rolling tray and leave it out for about 30-45m and jar it back up. 2 days in a row if necessary. A good way of testing is to turn your jar upside down (assuming they arent FULL) and if all the nug sticks together its probably too wet
