Anyone try those LED replacement "T5" bulbs?

I see homedepot and similar places have "cool white" T5 replacement bulbs that are LED...

Any chance these are any good for veg?

I have a few 40W flourescent shop lights I wouldn't mind converting to my veg lighting but just don't know if those are good, And if they are... do they even work in any ol'shop light?

Some of them require you to open up the shop light and disconnect the ballast and wire the power directly to the end caps. And they have to be a specific socket on the ends, Non-shunted. Standard shunted sockets don't work.

There are other types that do work with a ballast as long as it's the proper type of ballast, I'm not sure if those have to be shunted or non-shunted sockets.

Unless your tubes are burnt out though and need replacing, why bother? I use standard 4ft t8 shop lights with 5000k and 6000k flourescent tubes in my veg box and my plants couldn't be any happier. They stay nice and dense and stout with those lights.

I've only replaced flourescents with the led replacements in a shoplight in my basement where the bulbs burnt out. Had to open it up and cut the ballast free and then replace the sockets with new non-shunted ones that came with the replacement tube.
