I thought autos could be grown under any kind of light on any light schedule so long as the light source is sufficient?

they can ...... i run hps straight through ..... the blue spectrum makes a more compact plant in veg ....... grows bud sites not stem's :D if you have the light at your disposal then why not take advantage of it

Autos DONT NEED A LIGHT CHANGE. Keep same going til harvest . Preflower stage ( use veg nutes ) during that week , then when flowering begins switch nutes to bloom.

LED lights are for supplemental lighting... Of course the amount of light given will have an overall effect on any plants growth cycle but why not just throw it under an HPS?

Hps all the way.
what works really well is hps high up and 5000k-6500k cfls like 2 inches away for seedlings then ditch the cfls or keep em..whatever..may be overkill but mmm...delicious light.Drooling_homer.gif

But if you had a LED panel for a veg stage and another for a flower stage , which adds more red ect it would be beneficial wouldn't it?
They will grow regardless of light spectrum ( kelvin ) - I grow with mixed spectrum.

For your situation , if have two lights , run veg light up to preflower stage ( up to week 4 ) then switch light ( not cycle ) . Keep your light cycle the same from start to finish. Example : 12/12 or 18/6 or 20/4. All will produce. It depends on how much power you want to save on light bill. I like the 18/6 cycle. No need to run light schedules like photo periods , but they work to.

When can I give my autos budding fert
When they begin flowering ( usually preflower comes in at or around 30 days - depending on strain ) since AUTOS have such a short VEG STAGE ( you can give veg nutes at week 2-3 leading into week 4 preflower ) when IN FLOWER , Bloom nutes can begin. It's important to note that LESS is More with AUTOS. they can be overfed / stressed which not only stunts and burns plant but AUTOS don't have time to recover. This where YOU will cut your yield down by introducing problems during its last stages.

Read up on the breeder info for your Auto strain - the harvest estimate ( yield ) & Time to finish are ESTIMATES ONLY. Your true finish time will be longer than what's stated. ( 8 week strains can go up to week 11 ) or so.

you can run 24/0 auto's handle it fine ...... but if you read the manual on most HPS ballast its advised to give it some kinda of a break ...... my led's run 24/0 my hps i give atleast a hour break

mh / hps all the way :D eventually i'll get setup with my 400w with a MH and my 600 with HPS and use that seed to chop there is something about a MH during flower that makes the trichs squeeze out like crazy
