Ballast and Lamp Clarification

Hi!

I bought new bulbs today and kinda new to growing so I'm not sure if these will work. I have 2 separate ballast to run my 400w MH and 600 HPS. Both ballast are by SunMax. I bought a 400w MH bulb by Light Speed (it says to pair it with a m59 ballast) and a 600w Super HpS by Eye Hortilux (it says to pair it with an Ansi S106 Ballast). Now, my 400w ballast is an ansi 51 and 600w ballast is an ansi s52. Does it even matter? Will the bulb burn out faster? Has anyone had any problems?! Lol.. I'm just a little paranoid with running these bulbs now

TIA...PK

I've never heard of anyone referring to ansi number when referencing bulbs or ballast. If you have a 400w ballast that can fire either hps or mh then any 400w bulb will work with that ballast. If ballast is only made to fire hps or mh then you need to have the required bulb.

The only thing I've hear is digital ballast (small light weight) run at a high frequency than the magnetic ballast (heavy 25/30 lbs) so they will burn out bulbs fast if not made to pair with digital ballast.

The hortilux is made for magnetic ballast but will run in a digital ballast though it might burn out faster and may not be covered by warranty if it burns out. The 400w bulb will be fine as long as your ballast can fire mh bulbs.

I think you'll be cool with both bulbs as long as ballast and bulbs are correct type ie mh ballast mh bulb/ hps ballast/hps bulb. Digital ballast fire both mh/hps but the magnetic ones need to be specific.
