Ballast for a 150w ceramic metal halide

Hi everyone,

Kind of new here and I am currently building a dual 150 watt pyrex cool tube system chilled by a 4'' inline eco fan. My question here is that i purchased the cheap 25$ e-cono vapor HPS lights, and i just read a great thread on the benefits of new ceramic metal halide bulbs. So now i want to run one 150whps bulb and in the other i would like to do a one with this bulb:

Sooo, what kind of ballast will work with this light? Ive heard that electronic ballasts wont work with this light, is this true?

The lightbulb says its 150watts at 95 volts, having a little trouble finding a magnetic ballast within these specs, can any one help me out? Thanks!

Ive heard great stuff about this setup and cant wait to try it out.

Not sure on the CMH requirements but if they are anything like a regular halide they require a capacitor in the ballast not an ignitor like the HPS uses.

Add up the cost of the bulb ($30 wtf?), fixture, cap, shipping and it'll cost more than buying a brand new 400w CMH with a bulb included from econolight. They do carry them.

Either way there is no 150w light bulb worth $30, for that kind of money you should be buying 400w bulbs.

OrgeonMeds, big stepppaaaaaa.

So do you recomened just using two 150w HPS or would an extra hundred dollars for a 400w CMH light really just beat the snot out of them? I already bought 2 pyrex cool tubes off of ebay, and two cheap ass 150w HPS lights. I did see a thread about the solid advantages of CMH (wide spectrum, low temp, lots of grow ect..). As a fellow dubsteppa and experienced hobbyist what are your opinions on this?

ps chek this.

You can't go wrong with HPS's, they're tried and true. I'd pay more for CMH over HPS but not that much more, not for such a tiny bulb.

No matter how much better it is, it just can't be THAT much better to equal a 400hps, and isn't likely to best two of the cheap 150's either.

Cool, I'll check out the tunes. Thanks...
