Ballast is very hot

Any suggestions on how to keep my ballast cool? I have it drilled into an old subwoofer cabinet right now (wood). Its hot to the touch, i dont see any thing around it heating, but just wanted some input.

I wouldn't put HIDs in a cabinet. You want at least a walk-in closet.

Your ballast is a heat sink . Put it in an open area. Point a fan at it if you have to

Its outside the tent, in an open room. The subwoofer is on the floor i attached ballast to the wood

I dunno if I'd even use a tent. Do you have closed ventilation, fans, and filters?

Just make sure you didn't block the vents on the ballast. And after that all you can do is point a fan at it. They tend to get hotter and some develop a buzz noise over time. Be careful too, because they can melt. Good luck.

Forgot to post back sorry (sfv og) but i pointed a fan on it like you guys suggested and the next morning it was nice and cool. Thanx alot for your help!

raise the ballast off the floor so air can flow under it also.
