Ballast/Reflector Adapter

So I'm new, and I've been working on setting up a little growing operation. I was going to buy a sunlight ballast ( budget grow ), and a yieldmaster II supreme. But the guy at the hydro store told me they didn't carry the budget grow ballast, and they recommended the Xtrasun. I asked if this ballast would work well with the yieldmaster II supreme reflector. sadly they said yes.

My main question here is I've found the adapter plug on amazon, and I wanted to ask if this is ok to use for long periods of time, or if you suggest returning the ballast and find another store that has the budget grow. I'll admit I've never really been a fan of making two different products work with an adapter, but if this is considered ok, I will just get the adapter.

Thank you

They work but i dont use them. All of mine are hydrofarm, run 2-1kw lumatek and raptor hoods those cast the best light and are built sturdy ballasts are completely silent.

There are just different plugs to hook up to the ballast...using an adapter is fine...

I appreciate it, i'll go ahead and get the adapter.

and yes, i'm going low budget right now. I got the Xtrasun 1000w hps/mh ballast for 150 dollars. My plans for next setup is going to be lumatek and Raptor hood. But for both you are looking around 600 dollars. My only concern right now with the raptor hood is my tent. I'm running a 4x8 Lighthouse grow tent, and it has 6" openings, and the raptor hood has 8. I've seen 6'8 conversions, but I don't know if this would hinder the cooling of the raptor. Does anyone know if converting the 8" to the 6" to use the raptor is okay?

I'm also going to run an HPS splitter on my magnet ballast, currently i'm running 1 yieldmaster, but i purchased 2. So once i go to the flowering stage and switch to HPS, I'm going to run 2 600's on the 1 1000w ballast.

I HAVE ADAPTERS ON BOTH MY 600'S, AND MY 1K, THEY WORK FINE, NO PROBLEM you could always chop the plug off the cord and rewire it to a plug you have both /male/femal peices for but that seems silly when they sell adapters right??
ill subbscribe, i been wanting to see those splitters in action.
