Basic Starter for Noob

hey, i wanted to get something started and I only want 1 or 2 plants, nothing sophisticated or anything. I might look into better system once I get going but I want to just get something basic started for now.

Can I just use potting mix in a pot and a 400 watt light? something like the first one I seen here: https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/694-indoor-growing-systems.html

Can I used 4 x 100 watt normal house lights or do I need to order a special light from hydro shop? Or can I pick up a light from a hardware shop etc as I don't have any hydro shops around here?

I have an old wooden clothes cabnet, I thought I could paint the inside of that white and use that?

I guess I will need to make a couple of holes in it and get some fans. Where would I buy the fans from?

The main question is with the lights, thanks! :?

ok, im starting to understand it a bit more now after reading a few threads etc.

I want to go the CFL way, low energy etc.. This is what I mean by using house lights and I think I know what I need to get, some bulbs around 25 w +, maybe about 6 of them should get me started.

So I still have a few questions:

What would I use to line the wooden wardrobe, I guess some type of reflectin board, or what about mirrors?

What will I need for the pot, can I use some good quality potting mix to grow them in or do I need something else?

I want to keep it simple to start and I will tweek it as I learn more...

Oh and check out Newbie Central and that 1st guide you got is crap. Nobody starts out with those systems.
