Below is the email I sent to BCSeedKing after receiving my White Widow order. I ordered 15 at a very reasonable price and I receieved 20. I lost about 16 seeds with non-germination and dying seedlings and lost confidence in my ability to grow. Dr. Greenthumb seeds cost more than twice as much for 10, and they were small, light colored, and the seedlings looked weak with very thin stems. BC seeds are fat, dark, and healthy looking. They have restored my confidence in my next and first attempt to grow.

FYI

"I received my order today. Thank you for the extra seeds. I am very impressed with the size and color. I have received inferior seeds from a couple of other seed banks, but I am very happy with your product, shipping method, and customer service. You restored my confidence in being abled to grow my own. I will be recommending your company on the forum and you are now my seed bank of choice. "

The seed bank has nothing to do with the quality of the seeds you receive. They are simply re-sellers of pre-packaged goods from a manufacturer. If you bought a bag of M&M's from your local grocery store, and when you got home and opened the package you found that half of the M&Ms were deformed, would you blame your grocery store? Of course not... you would complain to the M&M company. Same thing here. The different seed breeders/manufacturers package their products and distribute them to seed banks for retail sale. The seed banks are only passing on the packaged seeds they receive from the breeders.

My point in clarifying this is that seed banks get a bad rep for many reasons that ARE their fault (eg. slow shipment, no shipment, crushed seeds, incorrect seeds). It doesn't help anyone to give them a bad rep for issues that are out of their control.

I don't care how they sell them. And I'm not saying don't buy from Dr. Greenthumb, as long as you don't mind paying double the price, receiving inferior seeds, waiting as long as one-and-a-half months for 10 seeds and not one extra, and a customer support that I would rate D-.

For those who are looking for a great deal, BCSeed King is a great place to shop. By the way, I recounted my seeds; I received 21 on a 15 seed order. I'll try to germinate 9 now, and save 12 for my next grow.

I've ordered from the Doc several times over the past 2-3 years a total of more than 100 seeds. I've never had a shipment take more than 5 days to arrive, and I've successfully germinated every single seed I received. And there's been nothing wrong with the quality. The seeds are the same seeds that are sold at all the other seed banks. A Greenhouse seed is a Greenhouse seed regardless of who the middle-man is.

I'm not knocking BCSeed King. I'm sure everything you've said about them is accurate and I don't have anything negative to say about your choice to buy from them. I was only making the point that it's the breeder/manufacturer of the seeds that is responsible for their quality, and not the distributor.
