Hi All...it's been a week so here's some new pics. I accidentally pulled a leaf off one of the plants, but it seems to be recovering. What does everyone think???

Hi All.......I know I've been slacking on the updates, but I needed to get some batteries for the camera. The plants have grown quite a bit & look really healthy for being outdoors in mid-October. I think there are a couple peppers trying to start. Do bell pepper plants put out flowers or not? Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

looks good bro:clap:, she looks kinda depressed, but since its healthy looking i assume she was just thirsty.. but yes, bell peppers do produce flowers; right before the fruit.. the petals fall off, and the pepper grows out of the flower stem... peppers are really neat. i dont know where you are located, but winter is coming... bell peppers can take lower temps than`chilis, but you can always bring it inside and put it in the growroom and enjoy homegrown sweet pepper in the dead of winter...

here's mine!! shes a good bit older than yours though

Thanx for the advice & compliment. Your plant looks very nice. How tall do they usually get before they start fruiting?

yours is starting to fruit right now... see those dangly things in the second pic? they will open up, probably within the next several days, to a lil white flower.... petals fall off the flower and your pepper grows... so you dont have peppers yet, but i guess you kinda have pepper stems; wont be long. put em in a bigger pot and treat them like weed, experiment with feeding it, see what it likes and can take.

A bigger pot??? The container they are in is huge. If I could measure it in gallons it would be like at least 20 gallons. The container is also about a foot & a half deep. Is that not big enough? The soil is organic & other than water I haven't really given them any nutrients except Alaska MorBloom 0-10-10 fish emulsion once a week. Is that enough or should I give them more? I've also wondered if they need nitrogen, but wasn't too concerned right now because they look so healthy.

im sorry, i didnt realize you had such a large pot..... yes they need nitrogen, but dont over do it; it can mess with fruit set

Hi All.......I moved the pepper plants inside as cold weather is upon us & a couple of days later the first flower opened! I took a pic. for everyone. I'm curious though...will the pepper grow without a bee or something pollinating the flower?

it should not have a problem... peppers are "perfect flowers" meaning they have stamens and pistils on every flower... look closely at the flower and you'll see what i mean; it is a single female thingy in the center surrounded by a few of the male pollen things.... and they touch, so it would seem logical that they would pollinate themselves, but at the same time, i really cant tell you for sure

I don't know what happened. The flowers that appeared shriveled up, turned black, & fell off. Now leaves are begining to fall off. I think two or three things led to demise...One the fungus gnats, Two the soil never really dries out being inside, Three the lack of direct sunlight & heat. It could've been a combination of factors, but it was still a positive learning experience & next year will bring new hope.
