Bending a tall girl over

Hi all. My plants are getting a bit too tall (over 6') and I was going to start tying them down. I was thinking of using a bamboo stake next to the main stem and tying to the stake as a pivot point and then bend it over and tie it to the ground with a string. What do you think?
I'm not sure how much taller they will get since last year I planted them 3 weeks later than this year and they didn't get this tall untill the end. Will they continue to grow taller? My latitude is the same as Chicago.

people bend there plants and tie them down all the time,,suppose to get better yeild i hear...

i just bent over one of my bitches today, but it wasn't as big as what you've got. i'd say go for it but be careful, slow and gentle (she said).
