Best Method To Keep Mothers For A Long Time?

What are some of the best ways to keep mommies long term? When you find that perfect pheno is it possible to keep her going for a year or more or is it better to replace the mom on a regular basis with her clones? What kind of light would be best to keep 4 moms with? I'm assuming a 150 watt MH should do it? Size of container and method? I'd prefer hydro but could adapt to soil for the moms. Is a 5 gallon bucket more than enough or too much? Do long term moms tend to get root bound, if so, is there a way to prevent it or get around it to keep them long term? Anything else I should know or do when trying to keep some mommies for a very long time? Thanks, Smokegoggles
