I had always used cheap stuff like miracle grow or plant pod 20-20-20- fertilizer.

Then last season I switched to the General Hydroponics 3 part mix doing that about once every 10 days and Advanced nutrients heavy harvest slow release summer and fall pellets apllying once each .Best grow ever but I had more plants than ever though.

I don't think we get fox farms up here in Canada,or we don't in this part anyway.

i use miracle grow or plant prod 20-20-20 for veg and miracle grow 15-30-15 for flowering, i always get heavy yields. so i think id suggest one of those instead of wating money on a thousand different overpriced nutes

Since I'll have many plants this coming season,I'll do a test on 2 of them
On one I'll use the cheap Plant prod 20-20-20- for vegging then I'll switch to something like 15-30-15 for flower.

I'll compare it to another plant using GH and Advanced nutrients that I used last season.

I'll make sure the 2 plants recieve the same sun and water as the will be close to each other(10 feet apart). They will also be the same size clones when planted(over 1 foot)

The guy who recomended GH and advanced nutrients compared cheap fertilizer like plant prod and MG said it was like comparing wieners to T-bone steak.

idk man i got some dr.hornby's big bud, and i never noticed any difference from the bud size. From the mg to the bud juice so i just stick with the 8 dollar mg compared to the 40 dollar bud juice

This guy that reccomended the expensive stuff ain't no rookie. I grew 22lbs last season. He rgew much much more.Just wonderin how much you grew last season?

I consider myself a rookie compared to this guy.l was always skeptical about the expensive fertilizer(General Hydroponics and Advanced Nutients) until last season

Hey guys, I know this is a real newbie question but I just haven't been able to find the answer anywhere else really and I've researched lots. Maybe it's because I haven't read the instructions on any fertilizers, but how much of this shit should I mix into my soil so it gives them a good amount of nutes and not too much/too little?

I will definitely use AN Heavy Harvest or whatever you guys reccomend so if you would be so kind as to tell me about how much to use for those, I'd be grateful. Or just how much you personally like to use. :)

The heavey harvest in the five gallon buckets,I use about a handfull per plant spread over the hole.

Well that's great yields.

But you should try compare cheap ferts compared to expensive ferts on two different plants.Just to see the differences.

ill try it this year to see what happens, if there is little to no difference, ill just say fuck it and stick with cheap

Nutes are like motor oil, everyone seems to have a different opinion. Do yourself a favor by researching NPK and fertilizers here (I grabbed the first link off Goggle, there are pages of them) and understand what you want to do for your plants.

Supplement (nutrient) requirements are most often dependent on your soil preparation. Most growers in my area mix their own soils and include nutrients in that mixture to avoid the common occurrence of nute burn from commercial products and wasting money.

If you use a commercial soil substitute such as Fox Farms, Pro-mix. etc., you'll have to add appropriate nutrients from about three weeks after germination throughout the entire growing process.

A knowledge of NKP & fertilizers can save a lot of money by buying products that cost less than half of whatever happens to be popular brand at the moment with forum followers. As a hint, you'll never see nurseries, master gardeners or large scale guerrilla growers using $15 16oz bottles of nutrients and they know what they're doing.

Everyone has their own opinions on what nutes to use and I'm sure everyone's opinion is valid in one way or another. With that said, I think ill throw my two cents in :eyesmoke:

So...is size of the plants an issue for you? By that I mean...Will it be a bad thing if the plants become TOO large? :) If not, then I can recommend using organic seabird and/or bat guano. You can buy this at most hydro shops in powdered form in big buckets. Basically this stuff is super high nitrogen (not always the best thing, I know), so it just pumps plants up during veg. They grow very tall and very wide and they do this very fast. I believe this stuff is also healthier for the plant and the smoker and the environment, if you care about those kind of things. As far as results, a friend cleared 70+ lbs this past harvest from maybe 20 plants using nothing but pig shit from his own hogs, organic seabird guano, and oak/manzanita ash from his fireplace. Had two plants that were a pineapple cross called "Scary" that were in excess of 12 feet tall and yielded over 5 pounds of dry bud each. All organic. Very scary.
