best truck audio 1800 to spend

What kind of music you like to listen to? I'm all about the boom in a vehicle. I've dropped over 4 grand in all mine lol.

I got no problem with music dude.FWIW I run vintage Klipsch speakers at home.They are powered by a Crown amp.Probably better then anything 99 % of people will ever have.NO SHIT.I can duplicate the concerts you attend,if not better.
 
Well, I had a alphasonik 3000x1 amp with a kicker solo-x 12 (2500rms) in a chevy silverado SS.. and ill tell you what.. even with a 10 farad battery cap, the stock alternator had nothing. On that sierra, if you go over about 1500 watts, expect to see that power draw on your voltage gauge. I ended up having to upgrade to a 285A alternator to run that system with an optima yellow top battery.
 
Oh, also, if you go with a big boy system, expect to buy a 8v preout deck. that 4v preout crap doesn't work at high power. I paid 600 for an eclipse 8v preout, 10 farad cap, kicker solo x in spec ported box with alphasonik 3000x1 amp. I got that price cuz I knew someone. So.. try and get the homie hookup is my recommendation. Ask around, some people have stereo equipment laying around collecting dust. Throw em a few bucks and walk away with beats.
 
My buddy had like a 600w kicker amp and a boston acoustic 8" sub in his. it was the only box the place had that would fit under the back seat. it pounded really well. it could drown me out and i have a set of lungs and love to sing. we listen to heavy shit tho...

listen to all of your picks to tho. A lot of people really get way to involved with the numbers and jus have to have the best of everything.
for me if i can have my windows down on the highway and NOT hear the Harley roarin past me, im good with that.

that being said, it takes a lot less power to accomplish that than youd think.

I also have/ had audio equipment here that most people wouldnt even know what it is let alone be able to afford it. and its all completely unnecessary.

get some quality pieces that match each other well.

Go to crutchfield, i dont know how the site is, but the catalog has a lot of information in it, and they have a wide range of components to select from. request a catalog. read through it. then go online to find your best prices. ebay is still a great place to find deals. i know its lost some of its luster over the years, but i do 80% of my onlline shopping there, and amazon.
 
right, i was only pointing to crutchfield as a educational resource. they have a lot of information in the magazine. Im all about making an educated purchase. I always research products, finding out how they are made, what components go into making them, who uses the best components in their shit.

I go online and search forums reading customer reviews on everything. i hate wasting money on shit. I have put together kick ass systems for people usually spending between 600-1000$ (granted i do my own installations and whatever)
i buy clearance refurbished name brand products all the time. and still have a few things kikn around. i dont even have a vehicle anymore.

i used to be hardcore auto buff, foreigns/domestic, racing, audio, off road, dont matter. into it all. but in the course of lifes events i realized its all just material possessions that have nothing to do with my happiness. now i prefer a quiet life of contemplation, meditation, and relative solitude.
 
i dont usually make a good first impression, i think its a defense mechanism, only people who are willing to stick around for a lil bit get to know me, then they realize im one of the best friends they could ever want. one of the truly genuine people you will ever meet. there is no mask, i put it all out there. basically because i dont believe i have to answer to or prove shit to anyone. I am but a man. same as everyone else. I follow the golden rule, life isnt that complicated really. people are just in a daze, and have been brainwashed to think things like cars are important.


but i digress..lol good luck on the stereo shopping. im not sayin it aint fun to spend money on frivolous shit, just not important to your overall spiritual happiness, other than doing something for yourself once in a while is healthy.
 
Like I said, I feel ya dude. I turn a wrench regularly, it's a good skill to know. I make 40/hr on the side doing it. I simply got tired of working on everyone's shit for free. At first, I was working outside, then I was like, hell no, I'm not working on a car unless I have a garage. Then people would let me use their garage. Eventually I got tired of working for free, so I started charging 40 bucks per hour as a deterrant, but... it backfired because 40/hr for a bad ass mechanic means... everyone calls me first, so im overbooked lol. oh well, life goes on i suppose. i lucked out with that.
 
nice, if i had my own shop id do it. i actually love turnin wrenches. but its -2 outside and i have no garage. I have a shop in town here that i send all my regulars to for their insp stickers, they dont know me, but they know i send people to them, and whatever they tell the people they need, im gonna end up doin the work. Iv had my people tell them that i said (for an example the pads are good) and they dont question my word. its kind of funny.

geesh, my sister jus had another place tell her she needed 2500$ in stuff for a sticker. nice jeep Grand cherokee, frikn thing looks like its got 30k miles on it. i jus laughed. ill get to it when spring hits...save her a few bucks im thinkn.

I just made 2000$ off someone who put their mustang in a mountain side ditch. Had to replace steering knuckles, body parts, etc. Awesome thing is, he called me telling me he had work for me before his car was even out of the ditch. That's how you do it. Of course, that guy has the hella homie hookup since he is like.. rollitup godlike material. (he's not on RIU). Dude runs a sea of green like a champ though :)
 
nice, last year my project was a full rough country lift kit in my sisters other jeep. did everything, new differentials front/rear (as they had a mismatch in gearing so i found a set for 150$), rear springs ( i dont believe in lift blocks, its cheating and unsafe), upper/lower tube control arms, front coils, ball joints u-joints,shocks, the works.... deal was she bought whatever i needed for tools, i keep tools. got a sweet ball joint press, and new wrenches and shit, i can never keep a set together, again, cuz i dont have a shop its hard to stay organized.
