I have currently have a 1000w Metal Halide light that is called the 'Eye Hortilux Blue' I was told this light will work for both vegatative and flowering. I have been reading around and it looks like the most beneficial light is to have some form or side lighting or both a HPS and MH light. I was browing around at the local garden shop and was quoted a price of nearly $300 to get a 400w ballast, a 55k lumen HPS light, and also a 6" cool tube..... The place told me to hang that below the 1000w MH at a vertical angle to light up the sides of the plants. I have found a deal on ebay for $198.90 shipped for a 50k lumen light with a color of 21k. I've also looked into the 150watt sun system HPS light ballast kit for $80. Anyone have any suggestions to aid in side lighting? I am just looking for ways to increase the yield and potency. Could I just go to the local hardware store and buy a couple of HPS security lights, then make some form of stand to shine under the plants? (the lights mounted to the outside of houses).
