Best way to sex a mom?

No, it's not a porn question!!

I am doing an experiment with a seed I found (it's the Born on the 4th of July journal in my signature). I want to have a monster mom plant ready to clone for next spring, and maybe also for some over-winter cloning inside. So the question is, what's the best way to sex this plant? Would you sex the entire plant by putting it into 12/12 and then put it back into 24/0 to reveg? If so, at what age? (from seed)

OR, would you wait to take a clone and sex THAT so that you don't stress the mom? If so, at what age would you plan to take the clone?

I'd love to hear opinions from those of you who have done both! Here's Kala at 14 days (yesterday):

Take a clone and sex that if you want a mother. This way when you find it is female you can take more clones right away.

You can reveg a plant that has been sexed but all that does is extend the veg time before it is ready to take clones from.

I've read that it's best to wait 3-4 months from seed to take a clone, but I see people flowering plants from seed. I'm assuming I need to wait until I have multiple side shoots with 3 branches. When would YOU recommend taking a clone for sexing?

If you just let it grow for 4 - 6 weeks and it will show sex under any light.

Seems unlikely that so many people and books would recommend 12/12 if this were so..

Why??? that is way too long for me I don't have the room to let any plant veg 3-4 months

I would take the clones when my plants are 8-10". I LST so there are lots of branches to take.

If I were just cloning to sex i would do it as soon as I could clip 3-4 nodes. This way if it were you know what then you have not wasted 4 months vegging a you know what.

The way I do it now is since all my plants are confirmed females, I take clones the same day I switch to 12/12, rinse and repeat.
