How many cans Vector, or some other multiple filtered brand, do you recommend someone use for a butane extraction per ounce of material? Does it differ for a bud run vs. a trim run?

Fade, I thought in another post you told me one can per 20oz flowers?! I had said one can per oz of bud and you had corrected me. What is it?

Sorry, you must have me confused with another halfbreed.
When running a 1" tube, we averaged about a can per foot, but it varies by how much oil is actually there to extract, so trim takes less than bud. On the first tube, I check the color and whether it is still sticky, to determine the best stopping point.

Regardless of how we arrived at the confusion, we still use about a can per foot of 1" tube, which would hold about 40 grams at our 4.2 gm/in packing density. We tell when to stop by when the stream clears and no longer feels sticky.

Thanks for the link bro and it looks like I need to be more careful with my answers. As I suspected, I was answering a question regarding using multiple cans and was trying to say that it didn't take several cans, it took only one. I will start answering in fractions when the subject comes up next time, to avoid latter confusion.

2. lets say you rinsed an oz with 25 cans. crazy, I know. way way too much butane. but lets say you purged it, then vac purged it for a week or whatever it took. would it be possible to still remove 100% of the butane from it, turning it into amazing oil still, despite it being way diluted in the beginning?

Given enough time at a high enough temperature, Butane will actually absorb up to 32 ml/L water, which can pick up water solubles and enough chlorophyll to add an electric green hue to the oil. Additional purging won't remove any of those. The water solubles and chlorophyll add to the harshness of the oil.
Overwashing also picks up more non polar plant waxes, which dilutes the oil and leaves a coating on your lungs, if not removed, which can induce coughing.

The thermos and super cold temp must really lock in the chlorophyll cause i haven't seen any green to mine after pretty long soaks IMO. Do you know an approx time with a pre-chilled thermos soak before you would say I'm wasting my time???
And just for the threads sake i have been using(depending on how tight i pack the thermos) around 1 can per 10-12gs of herb/trim using the thermos soak method.

I'm def not looking for bragging rights. I have only heard of a few ppl in town who make BHO consistently and i have no clue if they winterize or not. The only other BHO i've seen was pretty gooey and i'm sure it was underpurged, i've been trying to get ahold of that guy so i can give him a taste of the absolute.

I was going to mention that the guys who actually grow the herb have a hard time taking even the smallest bits of criticism before they either just stop talking to you or tell you off lol so i'm not going to bother telling those guys what way is the "right" way. They are a more of a lets go shoot guns and get fucked up type of guys...not good. My friend is actually the guys brother and he is a really nice guy who doesn't like to offend anybody or start argument, i'll end up having a chat with him prolly and then leave it up to him to talk to his brother lol. I personally would like to see more ppl with great quality BHO in town.

I don't smoke oils, but do vaporize them and do winterize most of them to remove the plant waxes first, because otherwise, it makes me cough badly when they coat my lungs.
