BHO vs Rick Simpson Oils

So I've seen the multitude of video's and forums posts through out the internet and the consensus everywhere seems to be the same; THC oils are the most potent clean flavorful hits you can get. Whether it's BHO, Absolute Shatter, Naphtha Oil, or Rick Simpsons THC oil, so I naturally have questions being I have yet to make or try any of this delicious honey.

Which is the most potent, flavorful, and aromatic?

What in the long run is going to be the cheapest to make? Naphtha (Can you use slow dissolving naphtha?), Isopropyl Alcohol (What percent is going to be the most stable and easiest to work with? 70%, 91%, 95%, or 99%), Grain Alcohol, Butane (Iso or N?), and a few other solvents I question like acetone, ether, denatured alcohol, and computer dusters???

Being they are all flammable chemicals in their own natural states, which is the easiest to work with? What's the quickest to dissolve and what is the most dangerous to work with?

Does the oil need to sit for a period of weeks or months? When portioning out oils how much should you portion out?

My biggest concern for all of them aside from the grain alcohol, is what percent of the chemicals are left in the final product when finished? Obviously results differ but what's a median range for the chemicals left over that don't evaporate or dissolve?

Personal testimony to any of the questions would be great. :)

Youtube has dozens of films on all. Of the above.

I watch YouTube about an hour a day every day.
I get more good content on whatever I am thinking and directed by me.

just so you understand you are asking for opinions not facts about thing like strength, health risk, flammability etc.

I just try them....
BHO I ran some good dank bud thru a glass tube and blew 18% and it tasted good and Fugged u up!
Iso 91, done it with everything from stems to kief to dank bud, I have a few ounces of frozen fresh trim to do next.

Each method requires lots of differences,
my next batch will be poor mans bubble hash.
bucket,
Ice,
frozen bud,
agitate 15 minutes lift out ice,
pour thru strainer and let settle 6 hours,
siphon off the majority of the water after 6 hours and pour into smaller container like a 24 ounce mason jar,
let it settle again no less than 4 hours,
siphon off the majority of the water again leaving 1/2" above your Tricomes,
pour into Pyrex plate and place on seedling mat,
evap water and you have the healthiest form of hash except for the C02 which is a big operation.

I thought RSO was ingested for cancer treatment?
It would get you high but I think the point of the long cook time is to degrade some THC and raise CBDs....

ISO 91 or ever clear are my choice when using alcohol.
I do QWISO,
quick wash, 30 seconds of agitation in a jar and strain, no squeezing and evaporate!
then freeze dish to scrape without gooey fingers.
be care it doesn't go flying when you scrape!

Aside from flammability, all I've learned is how much it's worth and how stoned you get off of it. I mean sure video's show you how to make it certain ways, but I'm a simple medicinal user venturing into unknown territory. For example; what should I use for a solvent and what shouldn't I? Ether? Denatured Alcohol? I've seen ALL of the solvents above being used, which are truly safe for consumption when made properly? (Including long term side effects from toxic chemical ingestion) I mean when I look at oil being made it kind of makes me think of meth. How is this safe when we're using extremely toxic chemicals (if ingested, swallowed, or inhaled in small to moderate amounts) to make oil? We're stripping off the trichromes that much I get, but when you add chemicals to it, how is that not changing THC and other cannabinoids on a chemical level? We're introducing poison after all.

Potency in that light also has to be affected, you're introducing chemicals to enhance the natural levels of the THC so what solvent is going to make my shake/bud the best for my dollar, lets go ahead and use Super Silver Haze as an example; THC oil from (rick simpsons method) SSH Averages around 57% THC when BHO from SSH averages around 73% THC content? The bud it's self is rated for 19%-23% THC just as bud, where does the THC content shoot up from the natural nature given 19%-23%?

Like what causes the potency to go up so substantially?

Information isn't always accurate so I'd rather have the opinions of 100 people who have tried it, made it, fucked up, and tried again and have done it successfully.

Also as a matter of question when using grain alcohol, do you have to use everclear vodka? Does it have to be Vodka? Could I use 151 Bacardi? How about a 180 Proof 50 year old scotch? Lol I can ask if you can answer.

on the liquor you want everclear
colonnugs uses same proof vodka and says its good...I would be weary but.....

Main thing you wanna look for are additives congeners sugars etc.. at least get something distilled a couple times, it will be clear..like vodka

Qwizoking knows whats up, I don't keep up with the ninja details.. There was something about flavor being preserved with the different types of extraction. Someone might be able to elaborate more on that if they wish. I know some from; water, alcohol/water, bho, and ice bags, I know how they can differ because we are all looking to preserve that sweet blueberry taste with the 70% shit.. (for personal usage, of course)

The he answer is easy,
during the process of Decarboxilation (heating and drying) the THCN drops The Nitrogen molecule and THC IS CREATED.
Im no botanist but I played one in my sandbox!

Have you read about the dry ice method or seen video??
everything has its risks....
If you don't know about Dry Ice it will hurt you just as fast as being burned, You Must Wear Gloves to protect your hands, unless your Superman.

Hash oil is an extract that is formed when a solvent, commonly including; butane, isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, hexane, or toluene, is used as a carrier to extract THC concentrations, the plant particulates are filtered and then the solvent is evaporate or purged away under vacuum. The resultant oil may have a high THC content (depending on the parent material) and is used in various cannabis-based products or smoked or vaporized as a concentrate. Delta 9 THC is strongly soluble in petroleum ether and less so in ethanol. Adding petroleum ether to the tincture will extract D9 THC, leaving water soluble chemicals in the ethanol (certain cannabinoids, proteins, chlorophyll, etc.). Butane is a more selective solvent which typically carries lower amounts of plant matter resulting in a more pure THC. Alcohol is less selective than butane, carrying other types of plant matter such as chlorophylls and lipids, resulting in a less pure hash oil, freezing the plant matter prior to making hash from alcohol can prevent some chlorophyll from being carried. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) has also been used to extract hash, but special laboratory equipment is needed since CO2 only functions as a solvent under high pressure.

Hash is a THC concentrate containing the extracted heads of the marijuana plant's trichomes that contain primarily all of the plant's psychoactive THC. The "trim leaf" (small leaves surrounding the flowers) are usually coated in a large amount of trichomes which are collected by various means to make hash. One simple method of collection is to separate the trichomes from the trim leaf using a basic screen; plant matter containing trichomes is run over or beat against the screen to separate the trichomes. Another method involves freezing the trim and then agitating it with ice to separate the trichomes, the mixture then is filtered through screen bags of decreasing screen sizes ranging from 25-200 µm which capture the plant matter and allow the trichomes to pass to the bottom bag where they collect into a wet paste. The paste is pressed to extract most of the water and pressed into cakes and dried. In a dry-ice sifting process the trim leaf is placed in a filter bag with dry ice and shaken to allow a very pure concentration of trichomes to pass through which can be kept as powder or pressed into cakes.

I had no clue about extracts & concentrates until a few months ago. I now prefer concentrate over regular flowers any day but realize honey oil will increase your tolerance to the point that weed may not even work anymore...Moderation becomes more difficult with high powered dabs. That being said my own progression into concentrate went like this: bubble hash< qwiso < BHO in that order.
Cannot say one is better than the others because I like them all. However each method has it's place: if I had a shit ton of trim laying around I would run bubble, If I wanted a solvent extract but did not want to vac purge it I would run qwiso, if I wanted some honeycomb I would run BHO. It's all relative to your needs. I suggest trying bubble hash or an alcohol extraction (qwiso) to begin your journey.

That's a great stepping stone process and I appreciate the insight, however I use mainly CBD strains that have a 1:1 ratio like cannatonic or CBD Skunk #1 therefore I don't typically get buzzed or stoned from it. I'm primarily using for Crohn's Disease and smoking usual helps with the stomach issues but as of late they've just gotten worse and worse so that's why I'd like to dab into concentrates. I've had bubble hash and Idian Charas before but I feel like the yield to waste ratio isn't worth it.


Also, Anyone have any knowledge to whether denatured alcohol, ether, paint thinner, slow dissolving naptha, or acetone is an acceptable solvent to use for this stuff?
