Big problem need expert advice

my plants have been flowering 8-9 weeks, they are 12 weeks old.
8 plants in soil, mixed strains, under 2 x 600w hps, full nutes, ph 6.5, two days ago fed plants water only as i am doing final flush, that was 7.3ph water by mistake, one of my plants top buds has died in that time turned brown and dried out, top leaves turned yellow dried out, and i bent huge bud over and the stem cracked, could it be a coincidence with the ph water at 7.3, or could i have bud rot.
or has the plant just went over the age of being plucked and dried out.
it was turning an amber coulour for about a week, but i think i might have got wrong advice about these plants a few days ago, being told they have two weeks to go.

in one pic you can see my temps are 26.6c (80f) at the top and 25.2c (77f) at the base of my plants. the top one is 19 inches from the lights.

ok some pics, you can see where i snapped the top of the bud off and this is very, very dry, inside and out.

pics 3 and 11 are the colour of the bud.

Post up some pictures.

Typically soil is very forgiving and will buffer well. A single watering of a ph of only 7.3, well i personally wouldn't have thought that would ause such a severe result in such a short space of time. I often am in a rush and just throw some ph 8 water into my dwc tubs or soil pots if i've no time to sort it out, although i certainly don't try and make a habbit out of this practice.

sounds like you have bud rot my friend. but the stems shouldn't just snap. does it look brown and mushy on the inside? THAT is rot.
next time more fans,lower humidity.

no its dry on the inside too.

other plants are fine, being honest i always thought that this one plant was growing a lot faster than the rest and why would the top bud slowly turn an ambery brown colour and dry out and die especially when it was doing very well until a few days ago.
i do have high humidity at night but there is a fan on the plants all the time, and the other plants are/were perfect.

i will look today.

If it spreads, then you know it's rot. I had rot once and it resulted in dead crispy buds that were moldy like on the inside.

Warm, dark and humid at night? Nah, mold and rot doesn't like that

I agree with TIP TOP on this one, a single 7.3 watering will not cause this, plants can SURVIVE between 4-8,

There is something else that has caused this....a pic would help so we can see the damage caused.

Were'nt you experiencing high temps a short time ago?

Could this plant have been too close to the lights?

Rotting buds go crispy and brown, also a distinct fousty smell of mould. I had one bud do this on me so I just chopped it off and it did not spread. Not had a problem since.

When flowering i heard its best with no fan direcctly on the plants and the most important is that you have a fan taking the air out from the box making a nice draft with all the time fresh air. So good ventilation is important.

well there is a circulating fan on over the canopy 24/7, if my computer keeps my fresh air in fan on at night it detects temp fall and turns them off. they probably run about an hour after lights off.

Those buds are as rotten as my ex wife. My fan blows directy on the buds, but just not real strong.

Veg...mega fan wind storm. Early bud...breezy summer day. Week 5 and on.. Gentle breeze.

I am 99% sure it's mold. That is the only time I have seen buds gets crispy. They get super crisp and turn brown. A little hard to see under HPS light until full blown.

Although mold spores are everywhere, this is one of the hazards of non sealed rooms and all that nice "fresh air". Steps for the future. I would highly suggest renting an ozone generator after harvest and treating your room. You can use it in your car as well. It will destroy all smell and all living organisms. Bleach does NOT kill mold.

I lost about $1000 to mold so I switched strains and also spent $100 on a small hepa air filter that I run during flower.

Chalk it up to lesson learned.
