Bloom for butter?

Hi all -

New to the forum and first time grower, although I've been reading and researching ever since weed was legalized here in Oregon back in July. I have a 3x3 grow tent with 600w dimmable balast (running at 450w due to heat):

I got this back in July and have been waiting for seeds or starts to go on sale to begin my legal garden of 4 plants. While waiting, my buddy was given a plant from his brother who "found" it sitting by his mailbox. It was a small start, root bound in a 2 inch pot and already starting to flower since he left it sitting outside for 2 weeks at the end of September. It really didn't look like it would give much bud, so I decided to repot, trim, and put back into veg for pulling clones (if only I had read about monster cropping 3 weeks ago, I'd have just made my starts from the buds).
Here's how it looked after the repotting - like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree:

3 weeks later and I'm ready to take cuttings:

I'm allowed to have 4 plants, so I'll take 8 or 9 cuttings, just in case a few don't take for my first time.

Once the clones have rooted, I'll have to destroy the mother in order to stay legal.
That's the background - here's the question:

There are still some crystals and resins from the first aborted bloom. I'm figuring it'll take about 2 weeks from cuttings to putting the clones back under the lights.
If I were to put the mother under 12/12 for those 2 weeks, would I potentially get enough THC production to be able to strip the vegetation for making butter?
It seems a waste to toss out the whole plant for nothing, but I've also read that the fan leaves and non-bloom vegetation haven't enough THC for butter. May just a 1/2 lb of butter?
Thoughts?

Thank you for reading and answering!

Thank you for the quick reply!

That's what I was afraid of - what would you estimate the minimum bloom time for butter?
Or am I pretty much resigned to sacrifice the mother for the new clones due to lack of space?

As an aside - are you able to see the pics I posted? They aren't coming through for me, but could be my newbie status.

I can't say, but you don't have sugar leaves that are frosty for a while and even then, fan leaves don't pack much. Let them go :-)

No, I can not see the pics.

Why not just keep the mother in veg, train the shit out of her, and then use 3 clones and her for flower?

First of all a plant found by a mail box from unknown source and unknown origins I'd be skeptical to grow… you don't know if any harmful chemicals have been applied during any period of its growth. Now if the "found plant" isn't actually found (medical pots been legal a long time in Oregon and dispensaries have offered clones down there for a couple years so its really easy to get cuts or seeds my man) and you're just being clever no worries about it.

As you've read typical bloom times are from 8-12 weeks some sativas can go up to the 20's 13 weeks is the longest I've ran (Ghost Train haze). The buds and trim I use to make budder I treat the same as the buds I smoke (their from the same plant after all) I give them the full flowering duration and cure them just as I would my smokeable buds.

My budder recipe is 2oz+ bud trim to 1lb budder… you won't be disappointed using that ratio..

Here's what she looks like after 3.5 weeks of reveg.
I did consider keeping her with 3 clones, but the height is too much - if she stretched just twice as tall as she is now, she'd be brushing the lights. Plus, as mentioned, I don't know about pesticides used on her.
I don't even know if she's predominantly sativa or indica - and with the reveg masses of growth, I may not know until the clones are up and going.

Thanks for your tips, advise, and recipe (-:

I always use dry cured buds/trim… fresh leaf i would think would leach chlorophyl into the budder.

well you have some time beforey ou need to worry… I would let her revert than clone, you're probably a month away… even if you cloned now the clones are going to take 1-2 months to really start taking off (they'll root like normal) because of reverting, I've been there done that. I would honestly just go source 4 clones and start fresh.

Good thoughts - thank you. To be honest, when he surprised me with it, I knew it wasn't what I wanted to do for my first grow. But I've known him since college (27 years ago...damn!) and he knew I had the tent for a few months and that I ordered some seeds that customs decided to keep, so from his perspective, he was making my day. How do you say no to that?!

So I'll clone her and while they're in the slow phase, I'll sample some strains a gram at a time, find one I like, and when these clones are at the same stage as the ones in the store, get a couple of them to grow with his.

Time isn't a huge issue and it'll be fun sampling and learning the different strains. A new hobby, lol.

Question everything from stores… use us to fact check… I had a dispensary a few years ago try to tell me that "it's natural for Sativa's to have seeds" like WTF… I've heard lots of craziness..
