Blue CFL light on light off??

Hey peops,

Just made my first grow box, one old tea chest on top of another and lined with foil. Have a blue 6400k and a red 2700k cfl bulb hanging from a rack inside. Have one plant growing in there at the moment at about 2 weeks old and it looks healthy enough (although a bit long, but will be topping this up a bit to promote side roots and give support).

Only really starting my research now, but was going with a plan to grow it under 12/12 under the blue cfl initially and then continuing under red/blue for the budding phase sticking to the 12/12 plan.

Would be grateful if you can give me answers to these questions and any advice you can offer :hump:

Am I right to grow it under the blue light 12/12 or should I have it under the light continuous for the vegging phase?

How long should I look at vegging and then budding?

Am using a mix of compost with fertilizer and sandy soil, was planning to keep fertilized with Miracle Gro lol seems to work great for chillies but any tips on what works best with this combo cfl/soil etc would be great...

Cheers,

Eastie

If you want to veg, you need at minimum 18 hrs. of light.
Any less, you are running into flower hours.
*Edit* You're gonna need more lights ASAP.
Check out my link in my sig.
I vegged with 98w of CFL's, and even went into flower with that, but I would have had a much shorter plant if I had added my extra lights earlier.

I'm with baka. Use both lights and more on time for vegging. I found that I got less vertical stretch at 24/0, but maybe that's just me.
