Bold declaration: cat litter trays are better than nursery flats!

It's all about making it work. I was trying to find a square kiddie pool the other day to put in the tent as a flood tray for cheap but nobody made one that fit damnit. I used Walmart cake icing buckets for years as pots because they were square, 5 gallons and free if I asked the bakery lady nicely. Still would if I could get my hands on some.

Yeah, I used those last year for my outdoor grow drip trays they're great just not quite big enough. I really wanted a 4*4 tray to almost fit flush inside the tent. That way if I decided to try Coco or do hempy again I can just let the overflow go and tilt the tray slightly and get it up with a shop vac. Getting up small spills is fine when doing the organic dry amendments I'm doing now but I'm thinking about something different maybe in a few grows just for fun. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ok but you can get nursery flats to your door and not sure how those could be any cheaper but good idea if you have some I guess

Too bad you don't live around here... they are practically giving away 4 x 4 trays that are 5 inches deep. Lots of grows closing up and dumping thier equipment.

Good call OP, I bought a weak batch of trays last year and have been cussing at them regularly since. I'll pick up some kitty litter trays to try out.

I would snatch all of them up in a heartbeat, unfortunately I'm too rural to ever find deals on craiglist...

I was thinking about it but I looked at the ad again and the location is Renton Washington which is 166 miles away. But I'm sure some will show up closer to home. I only want 1 anyway.

We keep losing grow shops around here. One went under, bad management, one caught fire, never opened again. The only other one I know about, is just out of town and rather skeevy. I hate to say it, but I don't give it long either. Hard to find, hard to get to, once you do get in their parking lot, it's a multi Bay shop with 1 little homemade sign scotch taped to a solid metal door, if the wind and rain haven't mauled it into obscurity. Nothing to distinguish there is even a business in there, much less their hours of operation. Weirds me out.

Lots of hydro stores like that even in California. It’s like legalization barely made a difference sometimes. At one place in Monterey County the sales people were not even allowed to mention or discuss cannabis a few years ago, even after it was legal for medical use.
