Bottom fan leaves, leave or cut off

Ok, so a lot of people ask if they should cut off some top fan leaves to let bud spots get more colas, HOWEVER I am trying to see if I should cut off bottom fan leaves that dont seem to be getting enough light and somewhat droopy at times

I have lollipopped the plant someone, but I guess I could have done a better job because there are still many spots that dont get enough light (think I will do a 2 part harvest, harvest maybe around 8-10 weeks the top half, then maybe allow the bottom half of the plant to become to top for a week or 2, figure that would help, even if its just a little)

My issue is, Im 5 weeks into flowering, this is my first grow ever and last thing I want to do is get a hermie
And will cutting the bottom leaves even benefit me at all? Since its not a bud site and I guess no energy is being used for the bottom fan leaves

No pro at all. But I have read no. Some people might clip one or two a plant to open it up but I think the general idea would be to leave them on.

Someone should clarify that for you though....

Depends on ones situation because the fan leaves serve as network sources to the plant; notwithstanding your buds will
love how those big fan leaves export sugars to the bud factory. Im having this problem at the moment, cindy is sitting in
a pot that has out grown its usefulness; gosh darn root excelurator leaves little room for flexibility. Anyway, this will cause
your leaves to yellow up good and properly. There are not too many options here...Hygrozyme will buy me a few days but
I gotts to get her seated in the ground.

The spectrum of light that causes photosynthesis is invisible to the naked eye and can pass through several layers of leaves and still work. I would just leave them so the plant can cannibalize them when/if needed. If you believe you have air circulation problems then that would be a reason to take some off.

Id said if your in the 5th week of flowering you are well past any chance of hermieing (is that a word) and as far as leaves..there is always gunna be people who say yes and people who say no..I believe its up to the growers needs and situation. Also a wise idea to harvest the top cola/s and leave the lowers for a bit to get full sun n fatten up a bit.

Thank you for the reply, its funny how you say its really up to the grower, cuz before the post i was thinking "i think i might chop a few that seem useless" after some replies I was kinda like "shiiiiiiittttt, i still might do it anyways, i'll see how i'm feeling when the lights turn on lol" my ONLY real concern was the hermie part, I hear they kinda go hermie towards the end sometimes too as they think its their only chance to "survive" and give off their genes

Its called "pro-creation" and I like to think its separate from hermie because you will only get a few seeds when they do that ..not a whole bunch like a hermie does!! As a matter of fact..I dont mind/encourage them doin it as its less seeds for me to buy!!

Herming is not a thing you should be worrying about. Plant can take prunning without problems. But why would you want to cut the food storage away from plant.. i would just tuck those leaves and leave them be. Defoiling is useful only in some cases like on speciffic time or in speciffic environment, 5weeks into flower you don't want to cut that off, plant is not making any more leaves and the stretch is over. but that's just my two cents
Cheers

lol after my 2nd cut of making a new set of top colas, I was going to make the very very bottom try to herm out just to get some seeds, I was under the impression this is how they make fem seeds, however I am not too sure, but was definately going to experiment as much as I can

Very true, considering its not taking up any energy, i suppose I can just tuck

I just buy coilladal silver in240 ppm and dilute it....I got 16oz bottle of it from Amazon for less than 30$ total w/ shipping and it make 6 1lb bottles to get femanized seeds. Just do a search on it and its pretty simple to "make " your own fem seeds!!

Herming plants make Hermaphrodite seeds, you really don't want that, as in your next grow will have so many choices to make, male....herm...female, when all you need is female, IMHO,...get 2-3 more grows in before venturing into this, its not for everybody, and the advantage of dealing with a seedbank..is you can try many different strains for as many reasons ...lol
I'd start with the basics and regular seeds like northern light, (if you can get it), or any normal regular seeds, then to boost your training some general autos too, for a winter crop perhaps, Amsterdam East is all Autos, Amsterdam West is mostly Photos, the more west the more photoperiodic! (IMHO) ..lol
