Hey all, about 2 weeks into flower in my first grow of bag seed, 4 female plants under 400w hps using nutriplex gro, micro and bloom combo nutes, only fed them once since theyve been in flower and they all look strong and healthy, however...

the new pistils which are forming on my one plant are pretty much just coming out and then turning brown from the tip gradually downwards, some even come out like this and are just like tiny brown fibres emerging from the calyx, my other 3 plants are forming new pistils but very slowly, have yet to notice the same problem on the others but am keeping an eye.

anyone know what is causing this? I really wanna sort this out asap if possible since no buds are even growing :(

Sorry for no pics my shitty camera on my phone doesnt show the hairs properly

sounds like either an environment issue, or stress from ph, over/under watering would be my guess. what are the temps, water scheduled.. do you check the ph of your water?

as far as environment goes the only thing I could put it down to would be heat, where I live is very hot but I have an oscillating fan on them to try keep the air moving. I've been watering when they've showed signs that they need, Usually every 2-3 days due to the heat. The ph of the water that I use is usually 6.7 and my soils ph is almost always at 6.5 on the button - will the calyxs grow new hairs? or is it game over and no buds are gonna form?

thanks for the reply

Some strains show red hairs early but still flower as normal, as long as white hairs are growing to.

some times if the problem is fixed, they will start to "bud" again. I noticed a micro nute deff. will cause the hairs to go red before they should.

Thats the thing though all the white hairs that do grow just do this and practically die, so theres never an accumulation of pistils and thus no progress, i'm like 2 weeks in since showing sex and buds arent even close to forming...

That happened to my plants when I had a one hermie on me. The plants it pollinated finished a couple of weeks early. Just a thought.

Pre flowers? I thought the hairs coming out of the calyx was the start of an actual flower? either way is this a problem, or is shit still gonna progress as it should? I really just wanna make it to harvest :bigjoint:

Can anyone at least advise me on how to go forward? i'm scared to just leave it incase it does mess up my harvest...

some strains take up to 3 weeks to start flowering, especially if there is some thing wrong, really need some pics before we can help you out...

Check for anything releasing pollen. When pistols are exposed to pollen they will turn brown and recede into the calyx.
Other than that I don't know, and I am not saying that is your problem.

I've seen this with high heat exposure during flowering. You can survive high heat with more waterings but growth is basically shut down as the plant goes into survival mode. How high are your temps?
