Broken carbon filter?

My filter dosent work properly its set on 480 and my fan is on 420 but sitll it sucks smell througt it.

Anyone know how to clean a carbon filter from pollen thats stuck in there?

Buy a new one, they dont last forever

put it on a grill upside down so the heat goes into the center and works its way out. Do it for two full bags of hardwood charcoal

think of it this way. dabs work at about 375 degrees and no residue is left. What do you think gets into the filter that wont burn off at 500+? the carbon is activated, it doesnt need reactivation. The 1700 degrees reacttivation is to get out really toxic chemicals from factories, we dont need that.

if you have a big enough oven you can bake them at 400 for 2 or 3 hours, that dries the carbon out and bakes off a lot of the residues left on the carbon, but you can only do that a couple of times before it quits working, then you either have to replace it, or open it up and put new carbon in it.

I was gonna put in the oven on self clean. Im glad I didnt because the carbon may start on fire at that temp. When I put it on the grill the carbon was glowing red but then I washed it with a hose and it didnt actually burn like I was thinking it was doing. The smell that comes out is nothing like weed so dont worry about that. When I cleaned my filter on the grill I did it for almost 24 hours, It was still putting off foul odors after 12 hours. Its clean now and works well.

"buy a new one" must be a hydroshop owner. I have one that has the old style rabbit food pellets in it. Every time it stopped working it was an almost 100% drop off in a few days which indicates that it is the humidity. The weakest bond in chemistry is the hydrogen bond...one week in an attic or car that is 140F or more has done the trick. Just stay away from the generic light weight filters like those junk dealers Hydrofarm.
