Hello all,
I recently came into possession of 3 high quality plant cuttings. I don't have a concrete strain to associate then with, only that they are good genetics. The cuttings had been taken, and placed in a cup of water until I got my hands on them. I build a home made bubbleponic system using a 10 gallon fish tank, air pump + 2 bubble wands, a styrofoam lid with 2inch holes through it and neoprene plug-caps. The neoprenes are holding the cuttings at the waters surface while the bubble wands mist the stems.
Before I put the cuttings in my setup, I recut the stems about a half an inch from the bottom and I dipped them in Hormex rooting powder. I thought that recutting the stems would stimulate the clones to grow again. Was this okay to do? My question is this:
I didn't scrape the sides of the stems, or split the stem at the bottom before putting them in the bubbles, will they still push out roots? Will it impede the root development if I split/scrape the stems now as they are 4 days into the bubble setup? Also I have these under a T5HO light with 2 bulbs. One bulb is the 10k and the other is the 6.5k. From what I have read, I would ideally have (2) 6.5k bulbs, will having a 10k bulb have a negative effect? Thanks for all your help and sorry if these questions have been asked repeatedly.
