Buds bone dry on outside.. stems still damp!!

right need help... been drying 5 days, low temps at 16.5 humidity 48% and some of the bud are already crisp dry.. to the point where i have handle them carefully as bits just crumble off!! Have some of them dried too quick? Can they be fixed through curing? And is is it normal that they dry so quick although the stems arnt crisp yet and still have moisture

Fill a jar up with bud and a hygrometer seal it and leave it for a couple hours; if I were you I'd put bud in a sealed bag right now until I found the result cuz it sounds like you might have over dried them with those conditions, not sure just speculating by what you said and by your conditions, you need a hygrometer in a jar to know for sure, good luck

Also if it drops below 55% it's not going to cure any further (it's either 55 or 56% I can't remember before coffee) but that's where it's overdried

You want to put them in something until the moisture is redistributed. As in they aren't crunchy on the outside anymore. Then take them out again and let dry a bit more then jar again. Might have to do it a few times until the stems snap but the bud isn't crunchy.
Did you have a fan blowing on the buds? That is really fast drying even with humidity that low.
I find it best to dry trim in winter when my humidity is super low. It helps to slow down the drying time a lot.
It is all trial and error till you get a feel for it.

What about putting some bud with moisture into the har with them? What about peels? Also surely all the moisture isnt gone if the stalks are still damp-ish??

If you just did a 5 day hang-dry there's probably still a lot of moisture within the bud. I would not add any moisture as you are still in a critical part of the drying processes (risks of mold). Once you jar your buds that moisture inside them will come out and they will become more uniformly dry (or in this case they might appear to become a little more wet, as the moisture from inside the but makes its way out.)

Make sure you keep an eye on them in the jars! They can still easily mold is the moisture content gets to high! Follow the thread beach walker posted above me.

This ^^ Definitely do this.
One of the biggest things to learn about drying for a new grower... the outside of the bud will always start to feel dry well before the entire bud has reached the appropriate moisuture content. I've seen a lot of bud ruined by mold because it felt a little crunchy on the outside so it was thrown in a jar. Patience and vigilance is required. You got all the way through a months long grow, don't screw up the last week or two.

Still don't know if these are whole plants hanging or branches on a screen or wet trimmed buds. They sound like they are drying too fast though.

You need to follow these guys advice, you should not be jarring after five days.

Forget jarring till you learn to dry, the cure is for storage not to change the bud magically.

Most bud here isnt cured its simply dried and sold after 2 weeks, why bother to cure wjen its more than dank dry.

The cure is partly myth :-)

Right ive been doig some trimming for the last few hours... fuck me is my back and knees killing, i have a 10 hour night shift ahead tonight at 8:30pm.. fml! So after some trimming i have realised alot of the bud are still quite damp its just the leafes and the outer bud thats bone dry but fuck me some of the buds are straight dank stinking, solid, covered in trich’s and looking amazing!.. thankfully! So hopefully a nice cure will perfect them more.. but some unfortunatelly are smelling shit but not looking to bad, not sure if sharing a container with the better smelling stuff will help..?

Some are a whole plant, which are still quite damp! The rest are hanging by branches wherever there is a large cola, and some on a dry rack, just been trimming there and continuing to fill the the tiers on the rack

No sharing a container with better stuff will not somehow impart some physical change in the less than stella bud.

Its a plant not magic set dude :-)

Just heard that somehow putting strong smelling stuff in with other less smelling stuff could improve its smell maybe through absorbtion.. might sound stupid to you, i just read this yesterday thought that maybe it would work. I take that as a no! Hah

Defo some moisture left in them.. some are still fresh as! Some are dry as hell too though. And i do have a fan blowing but pointed down at the floor and on low

I’d switch that fan off all together. You’re temps really aren’t that bad hey. If u really want the fan point it elsewhere at a wall somewhere just to keep air moving.
I dry in aircon so never used a fan. When they’re dry outside with damp stems I paper bag them for a couple of days then start jarring being sure to burp.
