So, If I am going to a hydro store looking for a small setup for 2-3 Plants. What am I looking to buy? And what do I say that I am growing... I want this to be a set up I can also use for actual herbs... basil, oregano etc.

Some people like the Aerogarden. They cost $160 and are hard to upgrade into anything much more productive. This is the system i like for my small grows if i was to buy one. Here is the link.

Botanicare : Product Overview : Hydrogardens

I own the one on the top. I use it to start my veg cycle on plants. Then I put them in basically the same type of system but with a 4'X4' grow tray and a 40 gallon res.

This system here is a good system to start out with, it has most everything but the lights, fans, and plants.

Systems are pretty easy to build, most people build their own and might save some money. sometimes not. It cost money and time to drive all around to get the supplies.

Good luck on your grow.

OH,, ps. do not tell them anything about what you are growing, they do not ask. they do not care, because they already know most people use there stuff for weed. But do not tell them you are growing weed, the do not like this. It is like going into a Head Shop and yelling out, Hey!!! How much for that there BONG, DUDE!!!

they will have some choices. They would like it if you can let them know what method and medium you think you want to use. 2 or 3, might want to consider one that has a central res with seperate buckets. You can start with one or two and then add to the capacity of the system. Most top around 8 stations. VV
