Lookin on craigslist and I come across a 15lb tank and a hydrofarms regulator for 100 dollars. Is this a good deal? (bottles hasn't even been used yet) and more importantly will this be enough? I'm in a 4xs tent but ill be upgrading to about a 10x13 room. Should I buy it? +rep

I recently bought that kit, and it was kinda cheap, and didnt work out for me.

Hydrofarms regulators are ok, but the flowmeters get stuck.. at least mine did.

Which in turn flooded my plants with way too much co2 until I caught it.

I returned the kit, and got a CAP reg-1 regulator/flowmeter..

And a digigro co2 controller that sniff's the air, and opens my reg/flowmeter when co2 is only needed to constantly provide 1500 ppm of co2 to my plants.

I had all kinds of problems figuring out how much co2 was needed by timer functions.

Its a good start, and the guy is not ripping anyone off at that price.... But you will probably upgrade fairly soon after you buy it.

Or maybe you'll get lucky and get a good working Hydrofarms reg/flowmeter from the dude..

Give it a try, What the heck.

Co2 really works, but dont gas em out too much.

And yes, this kit will work for your setup, but you gotta maintain high temps in order for the co2 to be beneficial(80+f.) and you should be running MH or Hps lighting.

Good luck :)

thanks man. i was told over 10x10 i would be pushin it with a 15 lb bottle like weekly refills which doesnt sit well with me. lol. i am running 1000w hps atm but im going to 2x 600 hps and 2x 600 mh and high temps definetly arent a problem. i know alot about c02 and how it works just never ran it so im reverting to noob questions to ensure responses like urs. very helpful i think im gonna pass on it. i know its a nice price but i dont wanna set the room up only to end up saling and upgrading the regulator to one that actually suits my needs. thanks for the honesty +rep

Thats a small cylinder. You should be able to find a used 50# for under 100.00. If not let me know I can. fyi co2 can kill fast under 20 seconds and you'll never see it comming. I hate the thought of people using co2 in their home.

Thanks for the input. Yea I'm definetly passin on this deal and am just gonna do it right the first time I was told to ease the pain I should but things over time but with my wholesale account the more I spend the more I save so I think I'm gonna save the hassle and just buy it all at once... After quite a bit of saving up

dont get the hydrofarm if you ever plan on using a controller or maybe or have a brain, lol. I recntly shopped around and too chose the cap for the same price as the hydrofarm and it never freezes where as the hydrofarm does. I used eBay. I guess if it was dirt cheap and yu were starting up then maybe. But not really. I have a 4x4x6 tank and use 1 scfh every 2 hours and with leaks and all I am pleased with results. It takes 10000 ppm supposedly to kill anything and most say they themselves and pets made it ok as some prank I can only guess. My 20 lb tank lasts forever.

I have a digigro coco controller too. I have their older model. They have a cap reg1 knock-off listed on ebay for like 80 bucks and a regulator controller package for 350-400. when I first started thinking about co2 last summer, a controller alone was $400.00 minimum. Seems like its getting mainstream enough that prices are coming down. There's another sub-400 unit from hydroinnovations that looks nice.

Let's not confuse co2 with CO. We exhale concentrations of Co2 that can exceed 10,000ppm. I'm not certain of the exact levels but I believe humans can be exposed to concentrations of Co2 in excess of 20,000 for short durations.
