Calibration of pH meter

I have a brand new Milwaukee Champ cheap ass tester with a single point electrode. I poured a gallon of water, added neutralizer, tested ph with strip.......neutral solution.......stuck digital tester in and turned little screw on back until it read 7.0......then I retested with the digi and it read 7.0.......so did I miss anything? Just being thorough.

Best thing to do is get the 7.0 Calibration solution. Those strips suck it will get you in the ballpark but you won't know truly what your PH is, could be lower or could be higher, and most of the times those really cheap meters are off to begin with even after calibrating but they are better than nothing.

Good Luck!

i have a hanna and it has two calibration points. one at 7.01 and the other at 4.01. i havent got a chance to calibrate the meter to the 4.01 mark and i think thats why the meter never measures 7.01 consistantly.

I did use callibration 7.0 solution.....I called it neutralizer, cuz it makes a solution neutral......then I tested with the strip to see if it did it's job........but it was stuff to calibrate to 7.0.

Uses the Rollitup profile
The calibration solutions for 7.0 and 4.0 are the solutions to use to test your meter. They are to be used out of the bottle to test your pH, not added to water. You put your meter into the solution, and adjust the meter.

I would imagine you have to use one 20ml pack each time you calibrate, correct? Also, how often do you have to calibrate it? I saw somewhere in the FAQ that you don't have to calibrate each time - I want to check that.

I haven't bought one yet but got ahold of a Checker 1 pdf instructions that didn't tell answers to any of those questions. see this: http://www.4hydroponics.com/grow_room/Mnl/CheckerManual.pdf

Thx
